My latest addition and EDC update is a firebiner. It will be replacing the Chinese counterfeit of the Leatherman carabiner tool which has been serving as my keyring for the last 3 years.

I've also got a few other toys coming. Namely a new shoulder holster for my Taurus and MilSurp Otis Universal cleaning kit with MP600 (which I got such a good deal on it cost the same either the kit or the MP separately)

Just purchased my first Gerber which also happens to be my first BO tool! It's an MP600 DET. So excited even to look at it, even still. Saw it at an incredible price on letgo (the second-hand sales app), I even had a discount from the seller! At some point before I met the guy I became suspicious and searched for fake products on the market and came across this post: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,18527.0.html

That post made me even more paranoid! I kept comparing the product photos to the photos on that post, got semi-convinced that it was the real thing. Then I decided to risk it and after long rides on crowded busses, subways in rush hour I met the guy. The tool was obviously neglected which it did not deserve at all! I almost told the guy "Dude, you have no idea what this tool is, you disrespected it, you don't deserve it".

Anyway I gave it a paint thinner wipe (not on the plastic parts, of course) and a bath in WD-40. Now, the stuck and gunky pliers open like switchblade  And how sexy is that one-handed opening move??? :multi: I'm looking for a way to disassemble the individual tools to clean and massage them the way they ddeserve   It needs a weird key, I'm looking for a way to make one or maybe I'll just go and buy one (if I can find it on the market, that is).

When I got it in my hand the difference between Gerber and LM was instantly clear (I've had Vic knives and LM tools before). I find it interesting how reliable and robust it felt in my hand, even though it's a little rattly tool. Being a precision-porn-a-holic, I never thought that that rattle would not bother me at all.

BTW I'm thinking about using 1200 grit sanding paper to remove the small stains but that would get rid of the BO coating. Is there a way to replace the coating if it does come off?

a most excellent find!  :salute:
Trust me, I've you have handles or used anty MP from Gerber and then you get the fake DET you immediately notice the difference. Mine is almost unusable today, and I broke some of its parts (or bent them)

I don't think that anyone used to Gerber tools getting ripped off after handling and using this one for a day

PS: I think the BO coating can only be applied or re-applied by factory methods and is currently out of most people's abilities

Early Christmas present: been looking for a Crunch for a while and got this new one cheap (it's a whole story in its own right https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,74791.0.html )

And another: I always missed out on good deals from E-bay from US sellers for the old E4, and when you factor in postage and import tax I decided to just buy an ES4 in the UK.

I hope you'll like the Squirt as much as I do.  While I don't carry my PS4 as much as my P4, I've not had any issues with my PS4.  Its a terrific little tool IMO that should fill in any gaps in your edc.

Was at the greocery store and stumbled across these, I don’t even remember the last time I had me a box, so of course I had to grab one, well three, heck a three pack for only $1, so I gave one to each kid and I get mine, :D

Rescued this poor Wenger for $4 at a flea market yesterday.

It's absolutely abused, but it was so sad to see it rot and rust away on that table that I had to take it and do what I could to restore its past glory   :P

some cleaning, grinding, and sharpening and it looks much better today, and ready for carry   :tu:

I need Vic to follow Pantone's lead of making a purple their color of the year and release a purple Alox next year!

at the (yet another) flea market yesterday I found this mini tool that looks extremely similar to the LM Juice. I've never been a fan of the Juice series (have had 4, have 0 now) and was surprised that this clone had the same problems with sharp drivers and hard to open flatheads/Phillips that bite and hurt your fingers when pulling them out   >:(

it's incredibly hard to open these. Annoying. The rest of the tool is very similar to a Juice, a bit smaller, lesser sharp SE blade and PE blade, Phillips is no LM type, but rather the usual Chinese cheap PH with rounded corners and small size, far from the original Juice's PH design.
Can opener and bottle opener are just meh, nothing great but not all that bad. :P

The pliers are very precise but flimsy, misaligned at the slightest lateral force applied, and won't stand anything more than light duties. Missing a saw and scissors, or corkscrew, but has a nice file that does file in both faces and has decent grit. As for the hardness of it, or the blade's steel, I'm still sceptical and only time and use will tell.

The tool with my EDC gear today,

for 6 bucks I had to try it out before someone snagged it in case it was a hidden gem. It's no Juice, and has the same problems (and the good parts are not nearly as good as the real deal), but it's not the typical cr*p you find at that price range   :salute:
Has no branding or lettering, plasticky scales looked like they had something glued on them that was ripped off, and there's only a "02" etched on the pivot of the pliers head (other side from the pic's angle, not pictured)   ???

My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

Nix's gift arrived!   :woohoo:

This ZT truly is machined perfection, all the things you hear about them are now obviously true!
It feels wonderful in the hand, like tailor made... and in the pocket, this clip is so well done  ::)

opens as if it were on glass, smoothness only achievable by all that engineering going on and moving with the precision of a Swiss watch. It locks with a satisfying clack, engaging the RIL without any gap and with a feel of authority.  :o
This one won't fail on you, unlike most budget frame/linerlocks you may find out there.

textured scales, made so grippy and still so pretty, not tearing your skin but reassuring your grip.
The rounded flipper tab makes for a comfortable guard apart from being a simply clever -and very fun- opening method. It gets addicting, you'll know it when you have a flipper so well built on your hand.
The blade shape is an ideal jack of all trades, and while it won't be a Opinel in slicing capabilities and finesse cutting,  :D  the cleverly designed grind and  high technology Elmax steel will lend themselves to do most tasks and cover your cutting needs, be them tactical, practical or fantastical

and yes, yes "don't use your knife as a prybar...", but I assure you this blade, grind and stock... :ahhh
ZTs are often touted as heavy duty folders, and by the feel and materials on this one, in addition to the way it's built... :2tu:

and all that was given to me without asking me anything in return. Nix, you pulled off an unexpected and incredible one with this   :drink:
You rule!!!!

Have a very nice day you all!  :salute:
