goes down, but damn, sweet water!

Very nice!  The filters are good for 1050 gallons too!

Good idea!  Makes me wonder why no one has thought of it before....

Still, while it's a great concept, it's a bit of a loss at that price.  With any luck the price will come way down eventually- oddly enough the article didn't say what the cost of replacement filters would be- or maybe I missed it?

Either way, great for rescue type operations, but in the meantime I can stockpile an awful lot of water for $460!

yeah but you can't carry all that water with you! the price should come down, it's new now
and you know how the price starts high on new stuff.

they also say; "The filter is speedy, too - 750ml of water can be prepared in just under a minute"

I don't think your understanding the break through ringz :-\

This new system claims to filter more bacteria and virus better than any other portable/carryable bottle,
it's "Ultra Filtration" What's the point of drinking water if it's got bacteria or virus in it.

Until recently you've had to use chemicals (pills/power/other) in conjunction with the bottle filters to
have very safe, clean water. Many people don't use the chemicals and take chances,
and many get sick or worst.

They've had problems finding a way to get it as close to 100% safe/pure as possible; that's easy to use,
lasts long, is portable and is reliable. They do have base camp systems that can do it but they are
not portable, and they take longer to filter.
Also nalgene bottles are bad for you too! :twak: their saying now.

So yes you can get nalgene bottles with charcoal filters and such like your links but they are not as good.

Yeah, I understand that it uses a filter with finer pores to filter out smaller critters - claimed to work down to the level of viruses.

I might consider getting one if I was taking a trip to equatorial Africa or somewhere similar.

I've drunk water passed through the old-style filter systems plenty of times without contracting disease.

I also carry Iodine tabs and will add those if I am in doubt about a source of water.

I'm just saying that $20 to $50 for a filter bottle is more my speed, rather than a $400+ filter bottle.

I can buy a lot of Iodine tabs for that difference in price.
