Leatherman Wingman Small bit driver
on: March 12, 2014, 06:06:11 PM
I bought a Leatherman Wingman a few weeks ago and really like it.  The only tool I feel its missing is a small bit driver.  As a father to a one year old I need a small phillips a lot for toys.  All the battery compartments are screwed in and usually set deep in plastic.  Is there a way to put one on?  I wouldnt mind giving up the large flathead as if I would rarely need one that large, there is already a smaller flat head on the file.  Also, if its something that would need that large of a flat head I imagine I would just go get a real screwdriver anyways.  Thanks.

You could, but you would need a donor tool, or you could carry the eyeglass driver that fits on corkscrews in the saks.

While it is most likely possible, I'm not sure it would be the easiest route to go. I'm not sure if there is a difference in pivot size between the Wingman and the bigger tools that would have the small bit driver, but I believe there might be which would cause a big issue.

Would you be opposed to carrying a small swiss army knife? The combo tool with the phillips driver on tools like the rambler are known to be good for the small screws you're referring to, depending on how recessed of course.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

I would not be opposed to accomplishing this in a different way, but it would have to be on the wingman.  I am a gym teacher so at home I am often in basketball shorts/workout pants so the wingman is clipped to the waistband.  Its light enough that I dont even notice it but comes in handy all the time.  I couldn't carry another knife or tool in my pockets as well.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Before I forget, there is a video on youtube where someone fit the mini driver into the sidekick which is the same frame as the wingman, so it definitely is possible and atleast 1 person has done it before.

Unfortunately I don't think the wingman has any way to add a small screwdriver like you're looking for.
