Multitool Heaven
on: December 26, 2006, 03:12:06 AM
Hey guys....On Christmas Eve my wife wanted to do some last minute shopping. While she went into Toys R Us I went into this sporting goods store accross the street and walked into Multitool and Knife Heaven. Of the tools I don't have they had a SOG Paratool, a Black Oxide SwissTool, Two different Bear Tools, A mini keychain BuckTool, a Schrade Tough Tool and some more I can't even remember. They also had a huge selection of Kinves. I was looking at the Vic SAKs when I noticed a Wenger display case far in the corner. They had the biggest selection of Wengers I've ever seen. I was about to leave when I noticed a big Wenger box on the bottom of the case covered in dust I asked the boy behind the counter if I could see what was inside and underneath all that dust was a SwissGrip. Imagine my suprise.

Thanks, Now for the big question. I've been searching on the web and I can't find any prices for a new SwissGrip. E-Bay also has nothing. I want to know if I paid too much or not. Anybody know what one of these bad boys goes for new?

Congratulations prime! I've never seen one of these on a store shelf before! (I got mine from Europe)

Looks like the Swiss Army Knife Shop has the corkscrew version for $79.20

I paid about $150 for mine and had to special order it from the Wenger Rep.  Good find!  According to my contact at Wenger, these were never imported to the US, so that was a hell of a find!

Then that store must really be Multitool Heaven because I paid $90.00 for mine and they have 2 more. And judging by the amount of dust that was covering them they've been there for a while.

Multitool Heaven! I always knew it was out there somewhere!

Hey prime, next time you stop in there, could you check something for me at the big Wenger display? By any chance, do they happen to have a Wenger Ranger 14?

Sure thing,  But I'm not sure my wife will let me go anytime soon because I also got a Vic Stayglow Climber at the store and I have a LM SuperTool coming in the mail soon. So she told me no more tools for a while

This is the sheath that came with the one I got. It has 3 extra little spots for bits or the bit adapter

WHAT!? No way, you lucky bum! Look at all that cool stuff you got with yours: a fancy form-fitted case, a selection of driver bits, a custom sheath!

All I got with mine was a set of instructions written in about ten languages!  :P

Heck, I didn't even get a box with mine!

Of course, I got it off Ebay.  It didn't come with the bit adapter or any bits, but it was new and I only paid $28.00! ;)

Mine originally came with a box like that but it's long gone now.

Hard to believe I've been using that bugger for almost ten years now!

Why is it that when I try to stay away from Ebay, all the good deals show up!?!   Congrats Chief_Engineer, I'm jealous :)

Thanks! It's hard to believe that no one else placed a bid on it. I just knew that I'd get sniped at the last second. Guess I must be living right... >:D

Attention all Wenger Tool owners:

..........don't forget to check out the way those screwdriver blades lock in place under pressure. (I had mine for close to two years before I noticed!)  :P

Apparently you pay about as much attention to the instruction sheet as I do!

I only knew about it because the Wenger rep I bought it from showed me!

I had to visit my Mother and Laws house this weekend and I talked my wife into stopping by this store again. The same two Swiss Grips are still there in the same spot. Anyone in the Athens, GA area stop by Franklins Sporting Goods. There up for grabs.
