This is a Buck Model 116 Caper.I packed this for a walk through the forest,in preparation for turkey season.

I reshaped the handle to be far more compact than the original. It rides well and close to the body.

The top picture is the current/reshaped handle profile.
The second picture is another 116 with factory profile.
The last picture illustrates the difference.

That's gorgeous!

I do miss needing to use my fixed blades.  :( I've even thought about wearing them round the house, just to get some use out of them

Mora Basic 511 in red. Most of the time, I use the military green version of the knife, but decided I'd try something different.  Besides, doing some carpentry work (to cut costs, my folks are doing half the work, while the carpenters are doing half) around the house, it's easier to spot if I lose it. Moras have become my favorite work knife when working around others I don't know such as carpenters (and yes, one of the guys working I noticed using his knife today to pry open a paint can--what's why if I loan him one, it's junk; like a Frost) because if damaged, it's cheap to replace but still of flawless quality.

Also, I kept a Benchmade 7 handy to rip open plastic-wrapped and banded bundles of wood.

I made it on a three day course with a knifemaker in his workshop 12 years ago. Sadly, I spent those years keeping it in the original condition, instead of putting it to proper use. The other I made at the same time has seen a fair bit of use, but I do wish I'd put them to use a lot more. I now use both a lot more whenever opportunity arises.

Very nice knife AW.  Glad you are putting it to work.  You mentioned wearing a fixed blade around the house  :pok: go for it.  You'll may put it to use a lot more than you might think.  I always have one on me when around the house.  I find I reach for it so much quicker than even my SAK.

Thanks guys. Yes Aloha, it's following me around the house again today. It feels extremely odd wearing a sheath knife around the house, but is quite useful.

It can feel odd  :D.  One day I had a big chopper AND my Mora Classic .  I found both to be very useful tho I did giggle a bit when I walked into the house and my SO asked if I had a knife on me
