Hey guys...RENWAX prevents a lot of moisture absorption on those handles!
Hell I just wash em and lay the good old BALLISTOL to it!

As long as you don't soak em down you're ok!!

Is it the tactical look that puts you off Styx? I don't like tactical usually and have thought long and hard about removing the coating, but decided to live with it for a while seeing as this is by far and away the most expensive knife I have ever owned. The sheath system I can do without as it's plastic and even more tactical than the knife! The paperwork that came with it had instructions for attaching it to your webbing rig - thankfully I don't have to do that. Once it has a leather sheath I will decide where to go next - I can't see myself replacing this one.

I have an inexpensive ( $20 US ) sharpshooter sheath that works with the RAT3.  It certainly lessens the aggressive look to the knife.  I also attach a brightly colored lanyard to it as well.  I can detach the lanyard as well so I am not committed to it.

I also affixed a leather belt attachment to my plastic sheath as the plastic sheath was not suited for how I like to carry the knife.  I'll make a more permanent one as I feel this one out.

The size and shape of the knife as well as the flat grind makes this knife ( coating included ) one of my favorites and regularly carried fixed blades.

Actually it's my past dealings with the company that are sour grapes. Although their 3 model is an exceptional tool
