Here it is, my first ever video review. Yes, that's what an east coast Scottish accent sounds like. :D  Do be kind, but constructive criticism is very welcome. :salute:  I will say that it is rather spontaneous and unscripted and it shows in a few places, but hopefully there aren't too many errs and umms.  ;)

I could even understand you through the accent :D

No but really, solid review, clear, actually not that many errs and umms.

Gareth mate  :tu:
nothing wrong with that as a first vid  :hatsoff: (you could have put subtitles on for 'English speakers' )I've watched quite a few youtube reviews and this wasn't half bad.
firstly it helped that it put MTO out there  :tu:
second I liked that it wasn't a tool I'd seen before (plenty of table top reviews on the common multis)
I think you may have found another 'calling'  :ahhh you could do more reviews in your 'spare time'  :D
full marks on NOT just waving it about slightly off screen or out of focus, and you didn't give too much info  or make claims you could back up.
it's a bit unfair that I know you and trust your judgement, maybe a stranger might not realize you know your stuff as well as we do ?
on a personal note I tend to try and only watch reviews that are 'short', I avoid ones of more than 5 minutes generally unless I have seen the persons review before, some youtube folks are more interested in being 'famous' than passing on knowledge

*just a thought but you did mention stuff about being an 'odd lefty' (weirdo :P ) couldn't you swap the blade and screwdriver/bottle opener thingy

Re the swap - I probably could, but I'd be fighting a couple of tough springs and I'm not certain it's worth the effort. :D

Good point about the time, I have to admit I was surprised it turned out as long as it did.  With some practice I could likely cut a few minutes out, but in order to give it a reasonable top-to-bottom review I suspect it'd always turn out at about 7 minutes at least. :-\

Cheers for the feedback mate. :tu:

Oh and "subtitles"?  :twak:

Luckily my mother is from Glasgow, so you were very easy to understand by comparison!  :P

Great review, although I have yet to watch all of it.  Work had been a bit of a pain in the arse lately, but what I've seen so far I thought was better than 90% of other multi reviews out there!

Nice review, mate.

I just tried enabling the captions on youtube to get the subtitles. ;) It was a bit  to watch it again with those on. :D

Very good review! Didn't go on forever and you didn't ramble on on. Got right to the point. I give it a 5/5.
You should do some more.

Hey...sawman... I've got one for sale on the 'for sale' boards.  :pok:

Gareth, I think this is an absolutely excellent first video review, and look forward to many more to come.

I think I'm right there with you on the function of this thing, although the retraction of the head on yours seems smoother than on mine. Mine almost seems to catch and not want to release to close. Then, after overcoming the catchiness (?), it still has the strong springs. I think I've invented new swear words closing mine.

Also, it's really weird, I never noticed your accent before. :D
And I agree that turning the captions on results in hilarity.

Man I am very disappointing Gareth, you are not difficult to understand at all! What a major let down, and thanks for dashing my stereotypical views on Scotland.  :twak:

In all seriousness, great review. I enjoyed it very much.   :D

As for the spring loading, I have found it easier to just use a table top or other durable structure to push the pliers back in. After a while, ones hands will become quite sore if you manually push them in like that all the time.

A little Leatherman information.

Great review Gareth!  I personally like longer reviews, and I think you hit the sweet spot time wise.

Can't wait to see the next vid you make.

Thanks folks, that's all very nice to hear. :salute:

Dan, you are right, a firm surface is indeed a good/better option, though I've found myself on occasion where the only surfaces available were ones I'd be concerned about marking with the plier tips.

Good job mate! Concise and to the point. I could hardly catch the accent, at least compared to what I usually have to deal with here on the west coast. Oh, and regarding the captions, it seems youtube "don't do scottish accents"

Great review Gareth.  :tu:  The captions didn't help my understanding of it any, but sure were fun to read.  :D  I'd hate to see what Youtube would think I'm saying with what some people (Ashley  :twak: ) claim is my accented, rapid-fire speech......

There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

That's the thing, everyone thinks what they are speaking is the Scottish accent.  Of course it is a Scottish accent, but it very much only represents what is spoken in the West, specifically the Glasgow area. :)

Glad to hear it got there swiftly. I hope it gives you many years of faithful service. :salute:

It's a very interesting tool, but just not for me. Although, that spring-loaded head is even more awesome than the flick-upen plier head of the MP600. :D

The blade is an easy one-hand-open for me. I'm surprised with how much force the pliers snap out, now I know why they call it the 'Recoil'.  >:D

if anyone in the UK wants one of these (more fool them), there's a shop in Norwich with a mint one.
I had a play with it this afternoon and the lethal spring is in good form  :ahhh

I must admit I didn't ask.

I paid £30 each for a BO MP600 with replaceable cutters and a slight twist to the pliers and an MP700 with dodgy screwdrivers. They asked for more for each of them to start with.
I can give them a call tomorrow, or they have a sort of website:
http://www.hooperssurplus.co.uk/

Dunc put me on to them a little while back.

They've also got a mint SOG Powerlock EOD with the piano locks, what looks to me like a good deal (£50) on a full size new Swisstool, a good condition Gerber MPT, a Core and so pretty bad prices on current Leathermans (£100 for a Wave?).
