HP 2133 Mini-Note PC
"It might be small in size but its big on usability, durability, and attractiveness. Packed with an impressive combination of features, the HP 2133 offers you a full-function PC with the utmost mobility."

HP's 2133 Mini-Note subnotebook - The Tech Report - Page 1
"Asus' Eee PC has defined the budget subnotebook genre, serving up relatively low-end hardware that's just fast enough in an ultraportable form factor with an affordable price tag. It's a simple formula, really, and one that made the Eee PC an instant hit despite its small, low-resolution screen and a Lilliputian keyboard that really only works if you have the diminutive digits of a 12-year-old."

Interesting... but for the price of that, you could have an EEE PC for each hand!

I have been looking at the EEE PC's lately- they seem like they may be more functional for me than my new Dell Vostro 1000 is, and at a smaller price. About the only thing I'd give up is Windows (although I could install it apparently) which isn't a great loss, and the DVD drive. For most of what I do (surfing, emailing, word processing) I am certain the EEE PC would be more than adequate and yet lighter and with greater battery life.

The EEE pc isn't that cheap. For $100 more than its base model you can get a decent laptop that's on sale. It had me excited when it was announced but since they raised price quite a bit from projected price it's not appealing anymore.

Yeah, my Vostro was well equipped for about $500, but the battery life kind of stinks.

I'm liking the new 900 series EEE pc, it looks more promising, yet retaining the portability of the original without too much price increase. The original fails in the storage dept, but the new one is a bit better, yet retaining the SSD disks. you can always find something better if you're willing to spend a bit more... I personally wouldn't mind something light and portable for couch surfing while watching something on TV, yet I don't want it to break my bank account either!
