My SOG Powerlock setup
on: June 06, 2008, 08:30:38 PM
I just ran across the forum and thought you'd like to see my setup.

I have been carrying/beating on this Powerlock for almost 5 years now.  I use it for most everything I don't want to use my good knife (Spyderco Endura 4 G-10) for.  It has taken abuse well and I have another in the box for backup if I ever were to destroy this one.  It rides securely in a large County Comm sheath with a Fenix L1T lashed to it.

Let me know if you have questions of want links (not sure if posting such links is approved of 'round here).

Welcome to the forum :)

Thats a great setup 8) How exactly have you attached the Fenix sheath to the tool one? I see paracord but if you could explain a bit about the method that would be cool :)

Creative knot tying.  I used the thinner Wal-Mart "Wellington Cord" and sat down one evening and messed with it until I got it to stay where I wanted it without flopping around.  I'm not sure I could recreate it if I had to, I could make it work, but it likely would not be the same.

Looking at it closer, it looks like I ran the cord vertically through the front and back of the CC sheath and horizontally through the top and bottom of the Fenix sheath.  I tied it off between the two horizintal CC loops and carry it vertically.

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the coments.

Very nice! What do you like the most about the PowerLock?

The fact that it takes anything I can throw at it and asks for more.  I had a Leatherman and fouled the cutters in under 2 hours on some barbed wire fencing, so they went back.  Gerber's just kept loosening up on me and were not very confidence inspiring.  SAK's are always close at hand, in fact I think I have a Gunmetal Gray Cadet in my near future.
