Here is a great idea...

I think there's also a lot of promise in fitting the removable clip from a Wave into the space that's between the file and the small screwdriver of the Rebar, after replacing the lanyard with an appropriate diameter spacer (or grinding a smidge off the diameter of the Lanyard attachment, and keeping it in/on the Rebar).

...worth looking at.  BO sounds nice.

just a handle swap

My coworker asked me to do the swap, because he wanted the orange and BO tools,  and as payment, I get the BO, with Silver tools!   seemed fair to me.

so here are the factory tools

hard to see, but notice the different angles on the large flat drivers (I took a better angled photo,  but you could not see the silver one)

so I like using the engineer pliers, but I also like NOT scratching the body of the tools so I decided to try something new, and it worked fairly decently.

I used these

and put them on the end of the pliers like so

they wore out before I was finished, I just replaced them and it was all good.

here is the tear down results

so, I also wanted to switch the lock releases so that the Orange Tool had black insides and locks.

ALL DONE!!!!!

orange handles, with black tools, black pliers, black locks, and black knurled knobs.

AND the BO handles with all silver everywhere.

If I can help, let me know

This is my final and definitive "knifeless" Rebar.

Has gained LM small scissors from Fuse and my combo 'F' wrench in lieu of the blades, whose function is provided by a legal folder.   Of the original LM tools the cap-lifter required a 0.4mm thickness reduction.  The saw is SOG with the original saw on permanent loan to Fuse.

Not my urban EDC but definitely my go-to MT.

That's awesome man, that's exactly what I need. I have the AL and but was planning on going to the surge, mainly because of the outside accessible scissors and replaceable wire cutters. Hut but I love my 154cm blade. Guess its time to get a security hex bit and start HACKN'. Great job all!!!!

thanks man, glad you like it! and welcome to the forum!

for this particular mod, you won't need a security torx bit, as both the Charge AL and Rebar are held together with the knurled screws, and the Wingman can be disassembled with just a standard torx bit.

oh, and you'll need a Dremel (or similar tool) to enlarge the pivot hole of the Wingman scissors in order for them to fit on the Charge.
