A signal is really not my thing though.. That's why I stripped out everything.. I got this rather cheap-ish off ebay. The real only time I use a fire rod is when I dun have a lighter for my cig...  the real challenge for this is to find a piece of "thing" to fill up the void when the whistle thing is removed as that part acts as a pliers rest when closing the handle.

Thanks alot Sam! You just forced me to go out to the shop and start hacking on another perfectly good tool! Lol. But seriously, i just won a tan signal on ebay and have been concidering doing some cutting and adding a real file to my current used and abused signal. Yours looks so much cleaner now! Good job!

Had a few days off and this is my attempt to transform a Wave+ into a 90% finished upgraded Mini surge... Cannot get the awl off my rebar to finalize the transformation. maybe the next time. :dunno:

Very nice! And a backup pair of scissors  :ahhh

What's stopping you? If it's the knurled pivot screws on the Rebar, you might to want to get a set of suitable wrenches from fellow forum member loki-mobile before potentially botching the job. Remember to heat the pivots to soften the thread lock.

Be advised though: the awl may require a lot of grinding off before it fits into Wave+ handles. Some people prefer to tackle that using a small Rebar screwdriver as basis - less to remove.

Thanks Darrell! In my very personal opinion, it's a really unwise choice of tool to mod. ( Value wise, it's too expensive a tool for what it offers) To begin with, the sharpener and ferro were never my thing, so does that hammer and carabiner.. Removing all those makes it even barer.. I got it really cheap and technically its to salvage it for parts. The only plus points to do what I did are the fixed pocket clip and a lighter tool. It's basically half a wave...

@ Kingofswords, I just cut off the hammer from the base.. They are riveted in and I do not want to deal with them...

Thanks Dutch Tooler, the rebar has a curved handle and the knurl screws are thin and buried deep inside the socket. will check out Loki’s wrench to see if it can help. running out of time soon and will keep looking for rebar parts. thanks for the pointer! Happy a great New Year 2019!

Once you get them started (with the loki wrenches) they come off pretty easily  :salute: getting them started is a bit of a pain sometimes though :ahhh Good luck with getting an awl in the Wave :tu: pics when you finish that step as well :D oh and it looks great so far :like:

Plus you can put the scissors in the Rebar

Feels better in the pocket now and makes the screwdriver easier to use. I like it!
