Nice! I did a double-take on that one. Old and new in a perfect marriage  :)

It's continued from the earlier mod, the same sideclip as the base. Its essentially the same tool, I just gave it scales for a cleaner look. For some reason it operates smoother this way. And manage to sneak in 2 more tools.

My recent obsession with hook blade.. A little locking hawkbill housed on the outside bay but opens from inside.

With so much metal here now, not exactly a light-ish tool but I manage to keep the footprint small.

From the back, it still looks like a unsuspecting sideclip with its signature pocket clip.

Sam, are you a wizard?

That is magical! So elegant, if I had seen it next to the Free P3 as a new model, I'd never question it. It is so badass! How about you let LM know that he's one engineer short?  :like: :hatsoff: :tu:

:salute: I think most of the time we are a bit harsh on new designs and there's just so much that can be done to a set of pliers and tools. They still have to try out new ideas now and then, no one design pleases everyone I think. Really like that new P3 pliers though. At least they addressed the area that snaps often.

PP, no harm was done on the Sideclip. So it's reverseable. Think of it as a attachment.

Love weekends! That's the time I can work on stuffs! :D Work on the other scale and attachment for the diamond file. Did some changes of internal tools. Decided to put in the file and change back to the original LM scissors. Fashioned a awl from the larger flathead and gave it the locking treatment. Man.. I love this tool... I go everywhere with it.

Hey Sam, that really does look great, and functional. You could almost imagine this coming out of Leatherman's R&D dept. in the early 90's.  :like:

What is really impressive is that the work is almost 'invisible', as the mod's blend into to the tool as though they were part of the original design.

Well done again. It makes you wonder if LM have strayed too far from their roots if you look at the direction they are now taking with Free. What you're created here is just so much more appealing.

 I like to work on older tools. they seems to be better built with quality material. They have some kind of solid feel to them. I like the new Free though. Can't wait to get my hands on them... April is a long wait!!:ahhh

I've got at idea for a 'retro' Rebar...(maybe PST III) apologies if this has been done by someone before, but here goes:

- Take the handles from 2 PSTs.
- Bisect all the handles length-ways so that the cut edge of the 'extended' side runs perfectly central along the spine, pliers to tool end.
- Reassemble like a Side Clip, but only using the 'extended' handles.
- You can now place long tools on all sides of the pliers, like the Rebar, winning 2 more tool slots. (5 tools a side)
- You'll lose the inch rule, as these sides of the handles get discarded.
- You'll need to extend the tool pivots by about 2.5mm to accommodate the extra width, and maybe a thin washer.

You do you guys think?
