First mod is underway. Hunting tool is apart and ready for action.

My pic is too large to attach.

Nice looking cutter Mr T.  :like:

Did you base your design off an existing cutter?

Nah, it will end up very different. I was watching meat eater on Netflix and when he used a LM saw to break down bones, a lightbulb went off. I already carry a LM hunting, so this will be a half tool specifically for my kill bag.  I don’t want to worry about getting it messy.

Going to keep the serrated/gut hook and Diamond File outer tools.

Inside will be Rebar saw, Rebar awl, and Charge flat driver.

Going to paint the scales Blaze orange Plasti Dip.  It’s a rubber based paint.

I might mess with putting something on the empty plier pivot as well. I know it won’t lock, but might still be useful.

Has anyone removed the “tab” inside the handle of a Charge/Wave?  Does it affect the structural integrity of the frame at all?  I’m going to have to modify either the flat or the frame. Thinking it might be better to modify the frame so I can put something on the other pivot as well.

That’s some serious mods planned Mr T.  :like:

By the tab, do you mean the blade lock pin? It’s only to guide the plier head and lock the blades, no structural benefit. How about a fat chisel/pry bar for the empty plier pivot?

For mods and parts swaps are the Surge and Super Tool 300 EOD compatible/ close in size? I'm thinking Surge EOD. I know it's not economical, but is it possible (without a full machine shop)?

They are both the same size. I don’t know how compatable the two’s tools are  :dunno:

The pivot size is the same. I have some ST300 parts in my Surge.

If you are talking plier head then they are the same  The New Surge with replaceable cutters is the same head as the one that the ST300 uses :salute:

I haven't done any plier swaps and don't know anything about the EOD, but I would guess that, like the other parts, Surge/ST300/MUT pliers are compatible with each other and Wave/Charge/Rebar pliers are compatible with each other.
I'm sure someone else more knowledgeable will chime in on this soon...

EDIT: Sooner than I can type, in fact.  ;)

I think I agree about removing that little tab inside. You could then eventually put a Rebar Saw/ Straight blade, and awl in there instead of just a flat driver.

Hey Poncho65 can I get a hacker badge?

Cheers,
H.G.

They can but require a fair bit of grinding/filing. There is more material around the pivot in the Surge/ST300.

EDIT: Link to zoidberg's pics which don't work anymore.

Quick pic of the tool tossed together and the resulting “left over”.  I need to fine tune the mod, but it’s a good start.

Here's a relatively simple one; a Style PS with scissors removed and a blade added.  Makes it a Style PB perhaps?  Though I'm thinking of it as a Mini Skeletool. 8)
