Oh like this?

That's one way...but not the cleanest or fastest. I need to make a vid of the method. You need to break the lip of the lid so that it releases from the can.

On a side note, I think I'm narrowing down a set of Leatherman knife setups for different activities.

Love that mod, Synco :like:

Great family pic of the LM knives, HG :like:

The Charge/Wave/Surge knives are great for me (need to make a SURGE one  :D ) but I can see that they have plenty of limits and that is why I normally carry mine as a compliment to a regular MT :salute:

actually I put the surge back together..I just can't see how a surge/ST300 hybrid ever makes sense. The shears on the Surge are unlike any other scissors on a MT, and unlike even the biggest of the Vic Scissors, it can cut some stupidly hard materials. I did however put it back together with sissors on the same side as the straight blade so I can easily open it one handed from the same pocket position.  One thing would make it perfect in my mind...a full 1/4 inch bit driver instead of the Serrated blade on the outside... Think a Center drive, without the suck... I have reason to believe that the Center drive 1/4 inch driver might even work in the surge.

Cheers,
H.G.

Perhaps a SOG one? :dunno:  Easier to obtain. https://www.sogknives.com/type/accessories/1-4-driver.html

The one handed part is what is so appealing imo. Plus that requires an intermediary socket holder so its not going to be all that stable. At that points I might as well just carry a Leatherman Bit extender.

Still better than the BuckTool. :salute:

yea, that one was shi...err...crappy...  at least I now know for sure there is a relatively efficient way to open cans with just pliers. (check general discussion forum)

Cheers,
H.G.

So... Did my thinking, pondering..and just did it.

Still needs two mods to the bit drivers and a Vic scissor but it's a thing of beauty

 :iagree:

So what all did you do in this mod  I believe it is bi-colored but it is a bit hard to tell in the pics

:iagree:

So what all did you do in this mod  I believe it is bi-colored but it is a bit hard to tell in the pics

So it is noticably different from the bicolor model for a number of reasons. As far as internal tools are concerned I used large spaces on one side to accomidate a modified bit driver after I cut out the sides. On the other side I need to drill a small hole through the bit driver in a specific location (still working it out) so that I can lock a series of T-shank bits and blades in there in addition to the normal tools.

Eventually I should have:

1/4" bit driver (straight blade side)
AWL
Hybrid bit driver-
*takes leatherman bits
*takes T-shank blades (locks in with small clip or even a paper clip)
*takes exacto blades (using simple adapter)

And once I get a 91mm Vic scissor I can begin working on replacing the serrated blade.

So this is a work in progress but I wanted to see how it looked before I finished it. I also want to gently grind down the lock connections so that I can close it one handed, not just open it one handed.

Cheers,
HG

I like the bi-color part :salute: Hope that the 1/4 inch bit holder works out the way you want and you can get some 91mm Vic scissors in

That is great :salute: but I hope that cutting the notch didn't compromise the strength of the bit driver :ahhh keep us updated on how this particular mod holds up :salute: if it does then AWESOME :D if not then...........

I can tell already that it is substantially weaker, but does work for all buy stubborn screws and a hard crank. For me that's not acceptable. So I'll try a different solution.

Also could we get some close up pics of the half Blast  Did you have to drill the tools out or did you use a smaller pivot on the plier end part? :ahhh

I used the pliers pivot from the Blast, was same diameter as the Surge T-shank . Just had to grind the Tshank  , in order to open-close normally. Pics will follow

Got a lot of goodies in the mail this weekend including a Sidekick and Wingman. I realized very quickly after disassembling the Sidekick that the pocket clip perfectly fit over the Kick's clip hole. All I needed was to drill a hole in the frame..

But of course I couldn't stop there so I added some parts from a BO Blast and a full Rebar plier head...

I call it the Knifeless K-Bar

This might actually be my new favorite carry for my Job, since its really not a knife friendly place.

Cheers,
H.G.
