Vintage Vic batch on Romanian auction site
on: March 08, 2014, 06:11:30 PM
Saw this today and I'm reasonably sure it's a gem... however I'm generally broke and already bought 4 knives this month. so if this gets bought, may it be someone from this nice community.

I'm longing for the Golden Cadet, the Secretary Zenith, the mother of pearl one, an officer and the soldier myself, but alas...

It should be fine registering for this site and buying from outside Romania but if someone falls in love with these I might be persuaded to intermediate.

Since I got some feedback on this and people seem to have trouble with this, I have a suggestion:
PM with the amount you want to spend for the auction+postage from seller to me (about 4 Euros)+postage to you (you calculate that - PO Code 500146).

I can try to win the auction. If I do, I'll pay for it myself, than you can pay me back the auction amount + both postage fees by bank transfer or PayPal (hope it works) and i'll send it to you by whatever system you want.

In return I'll just keep one of the knives (you choose between the cadet, the soldier or an officer).

Preferred member with over 50 posts or a few positive trade ratings (I don't want to end up paying 100 Euros out of my pocket) and preferably from the EU (definately dont feel like making customs forms for a dozen knives).

Anything similar on that site???

I actually tried to register, but you have to put in a mobile phone number in the second part of the registration process.  Presumably this has to be a Romanian one because it wouldn't take mine even with a +44 prefix.

You could have a new career Corwyn!

Occasionally. I got last week a Leatherman Supertool for 5 Euros and a Victorinox Outrider for 10 Euros.

However they are uneven... people don't know what they're selling. You see stuff like that, than you see beat up spartans for 25 Euros...

Nothing that amazing really.

Just these 3 collections:
http://mercador.ro/oferta/vand-colectie-de-briceage-elvetiene-ID1r1PT.html
http://mercador.ro/oferta/vand-briceag-multifunctii-elvetia-ID1wKUP.html
http://mercador.ro/oferta/15-briceag-uri-ID1D9S5.html

First is too expensive, second doesn't have anything worth the trouble.

I might look into the third one as it's in my city. I see a balisong (was actually looking for one), a tiny black Wenger, a Vic Picknicker and an undescript 91 Vic.
If the ones on the bottom are a GAK and a Soldier (doubtful) I might haggle for it  :P 170 RON for all is 40 Euros. I'll go in with an open mind and 25 Euros in my pocket... wish me luck...

Some guy got to choose from them one hour before I did... took one of the 91 mm Vics, the Wenger and the 111 mm.

Still snagged the ones below for 15 Euros:
  • Herbertz balisong - needs some cleaning and paint is a bit chipped but it's amazing
  • Victorinox Trooper - Unused, but was kept in poop, requires epic cleaning
  • Adler German Army Knife - Absolute gem, rare, flawless, unused, perfect snap
  • Victorinox Economy Camper - Unused but carried hard, logo is almost gone ans had to pry the tools out, tons of white goo in it
  • Victorinox Huntsman Plus - Absolute gem, including pen and eyegless screw, slightly used,  never sharpened, top of the corkscrew is a tad bent, but it's fixable

You reckon I did good?

le edit: Gotta love Victorinox... a bath in warm water with cutlery detergent, some toothbrush scrubbing with some added Vic oil on the Camper and everything is shining and opens nicely... they even got the sexy Vic snap back

Here's another nifty thing:
http://www.okazii.ro/militarie-razboaie/arme-panoplie/briceag-militar-victorinox-1944-a151190180
1944 Victorinox Soldier's Knife - 46 USD min bid, 62 USD buyout.

I think the price is quite good, but a bit poor now to pay that much for a Shelf-queen. Maybe if noone buys it in 27 days I can try to get it at 30-ish...

Got another nice deal: NIB Swisschamp (plus scales, plastic mag, hook)  for 33 Euros.

For the collectors a beat-up Wengerinox and an Elsener Soldier. Might try to get the Wenger lower, buut the Vic is too much for shelf-queening in my book.
