A couple of days in the woods
on: April 13, 2014, 08:40:55 PM
I just spent a couple of days in the woods with a buddy of mine, like we did about the same time last year. It got cold this year too, but not as cold as last year :)
It was a great trip, hiking on the nearby mountains and drinking 25years old scotch around the camp fire. Here are some pics.

The temperature dropped below zero during the night

There isn't much more enjoyable (in my opinion) than getting out and enjoying nature for a few days.  :tu:

Looks like you had a great time.   How did the rat 2 work out for you?

Thanks for the nice comments. It was a great trip :)
The Rat performed well, it was not my main blade on the trip thoug. I only used it for smaller tasks around camp and some finer whittling. It managed that very well. 10/10. For everything else I used my Helle Lappland knife, wich was my main blade.

Now that looks fun,, I soooo wouldn't mind getting out and shooting the you know with a friend out in the middle of no where, not having to worry about anything having a few drinks around the fire! Glad you had a good time! JR

I meant venison, not veal. Sometimes I hate this aristocratic english words.

So let me rephrase this: Did you went hunting/fishing/got your meals some other way outdoors, do you bring fresh ingredients with you or are you of the dehydrated, just add water and stirr variety? (Nothing wrong with any of those, btw.)

We had originally planned to do some fishing, but all the lakes was partially frozen over. The ice was to thick to penetrate with a lure, but too weak to walk on to ice fish.
We brought fresh food, since it was only a two day trip, the inceeased wheight did not ammount to much. We ate sausages, steaks with mashed potatoes (dehydrated), bread and snacks.

I don't think I've ever had steak when camping. :dd:  Sausages, yes, steak, no. :(
