Juice problem
on: June 09, 2008, 07:30:44 PM
I just got this Juice Pro off of ebay. Its in nice shape except the backspring is missing on the file.  If I send this in to leatherman do you think they would fix it or replace it?  I would rather keep it as it is than have them send me a XE6 as a replacement.

I would have thought they would be able to repair it, if you put a note in with it asking them not to replace it with an XE6 i'm sure they will abide by your wishes :)

My guess would be that they would replace the tool because it is riveted and it isn't gonna be a straight swap with a spare they have. You will just need to tell them that you will need the Juice Pro replacing with a Pro or have the problem fixed. You should be OK then.

I would suggest contacting Leatherman's Customer Service department to be sure.  They are usually quite accommodating, or at least as much as they can be.  I can't speak for them mind you, but it's well worth a phone call at least:

It very likely broke and fell out.  Backsprings are held in under tension between the implement and the rivets- if they break, there is no tension and they are free (in many cases) to fall out.

update ,   I talked to a Very nice lady at leatherman. She said   "to the best of my knowledge that she thought they still had some Pros available. But to be sure and add a note to call before they replaced it with a XE6".  So it sounds good so far.

I am also going to send my original MT back to gerber. Will mail both items at the same time.  So I can compare LM and Gerbers service.

My Juice problem has been solved.  I got it back today.   It's either my old one or a used one of equal condition other than not broke.  If it is my old one they did a great job. You wouldnt even know it had been worked on.   I'm very pleased with it. :D

I sent the juice and a Gerber MT in at the same time. Both companys recieved them on the 16th.  I recieved both tools back within 10 days.  I think that is very good.

Yeah, I sent Vic a Cybertool 34 and a SwissChamp Wednesday, and they are already being repaired! I'll probably get them on Tuesday!
