If you COULDN'T carry a SAK, what would be in your pockets?

I know this is deep in the world of fantasy (or maybe nightmare), but might be interesting to think about: If you COULDN'T carry a SAK, what would be in your pockets?

I would carry a traditional slipjoint and a Micra or other similar pocket multitool.

My SAK is very big for my pocket, so the only thing you may find there is this.

That's quite a jump, Nate! At least twice the weight... Maybe in the nightmare world where there are no SAK's we'd all need at least a Surge.

When I fly or go to places where a knife is a no-no, I rely on my wallet gear. In my wallet is my old army P-38 that serves as a can opener, screw driver, and small pry tool. It also works on phillips screws by using the corner of the tool. I've done a lot of real work with the little P-38. Also in my wallet is a couple of paper clips for the springy wire, and a safety pin for splinters and small hole making like when making an alcohol stove from a soda can.

I don't think there is another tool as versatile as the P-38.

Sounds like you could use a Leatherman Style PS or Victorinox Jetsetter for your travels.

Leatherman PS4. It gives much of the utility you get from the "average" SAK, plus the mini pliers. The scissors are not as precise as SAK scissors, and there is no tweezer. But you get a good complement of tools including blade, plier, file, mini scissors and adequate flat and phillips driver.

Assuming 'no SAKs' also eliminates similar style knives such as Richartz, I'd probably fall back on a long-time favorite, the Stockman. At one time before I got hooked on SAKs I was considering collecting Stockmen. Less variety, but probably would have been easier on the wallet.

Before I went SAK nuts I carried a juice S2. It was fine, my only complaints about it were light rust and the tools became really hard to deploy after awhile. So it needed more frequent TLC than my SAKs.

I went hands-free for about eight months in 2007. It's all a matter of knowing where to look for tools in your environment. Or how to misuse the things around you. Everything just takes longer.

I'd probably have a traditional slipjoint on me, though.

In lieu of a SAK, I suppose I would make do with my LM P4 and a traditional slip-joint; probably a medium or large stockman, or a full-size scout knife if I could get my hands on one.

Prior to my current SAK addiction I was carrying this sweet Queen made Winchester with gorgeous stag handles. I was totally hooked on this knife for a long time:

It's quite likely I would go back to it. Along with my SAK (usually a SwissChamp) I also like to carry a traditional slip joint, and I often like to carry a nice GEC 73 pattern trapper.
