Looks like a handy SAK.  I'd go for the one without the light if it was me though.

I got one with translucent scales for my old boss to replace the one she lost to the TSA. She really liked it since it had both a pen and an LED. I've meant to buy one for a while now, just forgot about it. I find the implement layout useful.

It's a great model.  I prefer the Rambler, with Stayglow scales.  I would rarely use the pen on LED, so they just take up extra space.

The Rambler has toothpick and tweezers in the scales, the Manager has a toothpick and pen, and the Midnight Manager has a pen and LED.  The fold out implements are the same in all of them.

I really like my Midnite Manager, even with its red-colored LED light.

If they made an Alox version, it'd be perfect IMHO.

White led version is coming out, so if you want that wait a bit.

I think Vic could do a lot more with the 58mm size, and wish they would make a true "Champ" type of 58mm - one that had wider blades and tools using the entire width of the SAK, and not half like they do currently with tools on both the top and bottom.

I got my brother one of those for Christmas and had a chance to check it out before gift wrapping it.

I was slightly disappointed in the low output of the LED.

About bright enough to find a keyhole or search for dropped keys, but not much more.  It'd be touch and go trying to find your way down even a well-worn path with this LED.

I really liked its little pen - works better ergonomically if both the pen and nail file are extended.

Anyways, my brother keeps it on his keychain and says he likes it.  He tells me that he uses the pen and LED "all the time" and the other implements occasionally.

Vic. are replacing the red LEDs in their knives with white ones in this year's models, hopefully they'll be a bit brighter.

As a Professional Desk Jockey (I am fully aware of the inconsistency of this & what I said I'd use my new E. Recruit for)

I am somewhat against gimmicky pens, can anyone actually use these things for any significant writery?

Well I borrod my Bro's new one, and while you probably wouldn't want to write a thesis with it, it'll do the job for the odd note here and there :)
