MUT pocket clip
on: April 29, 2014, 05:47:01 PM
I've been lurking here for a while now and I finally decided to make an account so I could pose this to you esteemed LM lovers. I received my MUT Friday and EDC'd over the weekend. Come the first day of work. I find myself with a bent pocket clip. I caught it on some chain link and warped it to hell - typical case of the Mondays. I bent the clip back - no problem. My problem is this - I hate the pocket clip. It's too bulbous and is getting caught on things and it's too tight causing me to return the tool to my pocket with two hands. I don't want to hide away my beautiful MUT in the depths of my pocket and my belt line is already committed to an SOG Seal Pup. I swear by my skele and a pocket clip such as this would be ideal. Any retro-fitting/modded clips out there to allow me svelte access to my tool?

You got me on that one, but I will say the clip on the MUT seems pretty cantankerous. I'd just carry a smaller tool to be honest with you.

Welcome to MTO!
I don't have a MUTT, so I can't really help you.( I pack a Surge)
But there are some here who do and they might be able to help you.

I really don't like the clip on my MUT either.  I did put two small washers under the base of it to make it easier to clip and unclip from the pocket though.

One time I modified the clip on my skeletool and transferred it to my PST, I'm sure the same could be done for the MUT

The MUT clip is made of solid Titanium and is very hard and inflexible. I believe LM designed it deliberately that way so once attached it stays that way. I use mine all the time and don't have that issue but I don't use it hard-core in active duty, in the field, downrange etc. so it doesn't get snagged much.

The little hack derekmac mentioned above sound like something that could work for you too...worth giving it a try, IMO.

Cheers :)
EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.
