Got a new bottle opener
on: October 28, 2013, 07:17:45 PM
Got a new bottle opener. Hand forged in 300 layers of steel from a Leopard I tank barrel.

That's sweet.  :tu:  The Leopard 1 itself would make quite a bottle/can/T-72 opener in its own right.....  ;)

  Spot on! :tu:

As soon as I unpacked it I took it to a bottle to try it on and as I was getting close to the victim the poor thing popped the cap by itself, obviously in fear of such awesomeness.

Just jk. Functions as a regular opener of course.

Böker have knives with the blade made from the same material. And from other super cool steels too. From Eurofighter jets. Even from Tirpitz (retrieved from under the sea). No joke.

Yeah, they made a Sherman opener......

Seriously though, a knife made from steel salvaged from the Tirpitz?  That would be extremely cool IMO....

To answer the question seriously I do not think - or ever saw - a Boker made from another tank gun barrel except the Leopard I. Maybe they got one big barrel segment and managed to churn a few thousand small blades out of it..

Already passed here a while ago ;)

From that photo I get that somebody may be planning light French tank for this US Thanksgiving instead of the traditional bird? :D

Which one? The medal or the blade? And how does it work?
