Is the Gerber forum always this quiet, or is it that my tool is plain Jane?

Hi Roc, Congrats on the new MP600. The Gerber forum could seem quite right now, but there are quite a lot of members that carry and use their MP600s. It could be that there is no Gerber multitools challenge going right now. I know in the past there has been ones for MPs and the Center Drive earlier this year. Post up some pics when you get your MP600 in hand.

Makes sense. I’ve already been posting in what tool did you carry in general forum.

It is the Gerber board. Even though some of us carry Gerbers, this site is generally Victorinox and Leatherman dominant.  Like JonesE said, it usually gets jumping in the Gerber board with challenges, and then sometimes collection stuff.

Looking forward to seeing your first modern Gerber usage pics!

Great idea GLBM.  :iagree: The rest of this year seems to have already filled up with challenges already.  Something for early next year maybe?

I signed up for a challenge once, then backed out. Why isn’t there a challenge to find a use for every tool over the coarse of a couple weeks?  Using the honor system of coarse. Would make it a lot more interesting. And a lot harder.

Sounds good. Maybe a new year MP600 extravaganza in January?

If so, I’ll drop out. Don’t think it should go for what it’s up to.

What does everyone use to take their 600s apart to mod? I will have some on the way and want to swap some of the tools.

There are out there the loki wrenches (from member lokimobile); I made this from a cheap bit set: a 1cm/3/8" bit which I reprofiled the tip to fit two opposing notches from the pivot bolt (found on the metric and the imperial rulers). Remember to heat the pivot to loosen the thread lock ("Loktite").You do not need a second bit, as the female end of the pivot fits inside notches in the handles and won't turn. I place a drop of blue Locktite on the bolt's threads for reassembly; blue holds fine, and you don't need to heat it up to break it free. Simple and pretty effective. Good luck with your moddin' and hope to see pictures soon!
Edit- Another tidbit of info.: be careful of the position of the indexed washers ( the ones that go between tools to prevent clumping); I tend to push out the female end of the pivot with a piece of wire ( once the bolt's off) so that I can keep everything in order while disassembling and mod/ reassembly. Hope it makes sense, and helps!

Thanks GLB! Now the wait. I’ve never seen the sight tool in person. It appears to be thick. Can more than one tool go in its place?

Received the Leatherman XL sheath Saturday. I love everything about it, but the long pull. That Velcro makes a ridiculous amount of noise.

Thanks Juan! I think I’ll put tape over part of the Velcro, so it will be a bit quieter.  :D
