I've got an old Nokia analog phone that still works. I've never had a Nokia die, only the battery.

I've had 4 or 5 different Nokias over the last 10 years and never had a problem with any of them.   They put up with a lot of abuse and are probably all still working.

My Sony Ericson died after about a year from half the beating I dealt out to the Nokias.

I switched to the Palm Treo about 4 years ago and it lasted very well even after dropping it more times that I care to admit to (once off a moving motorcycle).  It still works perfectly although we switched carriers and can't use it for phone service anymore.

I thought it would be a good idea to get a windows moble phone last year and we tried the HTC touch and mogul and they have proven themselves as the worst phones we have had.    In 6 months, these phones have glitched, crashed, and aged more than any we've had by 10 fold.

Going back to Palm this week.

Wow, that's impressive- another guy I know has had his HTC Touch replaced six times under warrantee, due to problems like locking up, dropping calls and randomly dialing 911.  I have an HTC Touch now, and I love it- it hasn't given me a bit of problems.

My boss has the Treo as well, and he likes it, but has issues with Bluetooth headsets- none seem to work well with it.  Palm is a better OS, but it is going the way of the dinosaur unfortunately.  It's almost impossible for a company to go toe to toe with the Almighty Bill and survice, and even modern Palm models are running Windows Mobile.

I have had good luck with Kyoceras.I still have the Flip Phone in storage as a back-up.I just turned it on after sitting a couple of years and the battery still has a bit of cherge.I have an LG that is pushing 2 years and the battery on that one is starting to give me fits,it spends most of its time on the car charger now.It will lose 3 bars quick then if I hang up and wait a couple of minutes they come back.

It is getting time for an upgrade.I have been thinking about the Casio G Shock phone this time around.

I've had 5 cellphones over a 6 year span but none of them actually died on me they were just replaced when contract renewal time came up. I tend to have good luck with phones but bad luck with any other electronic device.

Had one phone that got soaked in a pool when I got pushed in fully clothed. Worked until replacement after drying for a few days. Dropped another one in a bowl of cereal and milk and it worked fine after a rinse and dry.

I don't remember brands but I know the first two were Qualcomms, not even sure what brand I have now. I'm not really into cellphones too much as a gadget item. It's just something I don't need or use too often to get into it from a hobby aspect.

I'm gonna ride the sinking ship that is the palm OS to the grave I think.    It's just so much more stable.    I will miss the software that's available for the windows platform though and am hoping the new model is a little better with bluetooth.   My old palm worked intermittantly at best with my bluetooth headset, but I don't care to wear them anyway.    This month the cops start cracking down on using cells while driving though so I may not have a choice.

I can't get used to the touch only thing for some reason.    Plus when I make calls that require me inputting numbers and I have to take the phone away from my ear and put it back (like checking accounts etc.), I always seem to prompt an unwanted entry with my ear when it touches the screen.    I don't always want to have to use speakerphone to avoid that.

Several friends have the Touch and love them.    One is running the iphoney shell that makes it function much like iphone which is pretty nifty.   I'm going to try it on my palm when it gets here.

I just found out the Treo 755P I have coming supports streaming TV and I can get the Looney Tunes channel so I'm pretty stoked right now.

Looney Tunes?  Sweet!  I just watched Space Jame again yesterday!  :D  Good movie, but I prefer Back in Action- Brendan Fraser seems more like a Looney Tune than Michael Jordan! :P  And, of course you had a hard time telling Steve Martin from the Toons as well!

The touch screen thing is easier with a Bluetooth headset.  It allows you to make use of all the functions without having to constantly take the phone away, put it back, take it away, put it back etc.  The other benefit is I can lock my phone away in an Otter Box and wear the headset while kayaking, working outdoors in the rain, or doing other things, so I don't miss any important calls, and it's significantly cheaper to replace the headset than the phone!
