New member from Finland signin´in

hi there.

im 31 yrs old guy from Finland,im a biker, tattoo artist, piercer,i do a lot of metal craftin too,and i love to hike in da woods too,ex scout(i was a scout for over 10 yrs),served in army as a sniper.

im a multitool freak, been that since some 93 when i got my first one.an LM pst 1,that i still have.ever since ive been collectin lm´s,but i dont keep em in dust in some show case,i use em all.well...most of them, some ive left out of use when ive got better ones.and some ive given or sold away.a factor that i have to deal with ;).and i kinda miss all of those ive lost, hah.

i have these lm´s now:
-surge
-core
-xti
-tti
-micra
-squirt with scissors
-fuse
-crunch
-k502x
-e302

and then some basic swisstool, one sog paratool and sog powerlock bo.

i also use hars finnish puukkos, ranger knife 95,and exterma ratio 185 rao.
ofcourse i have some mcgyver swiss army knives too ;).but those are from my childhood, they were cool gadgets back then.and ive been searching a new one,but unfortunately i havent found any that would really fit me.i havent dealt with those ones with lockin blades and larger handles though,at all.

im really intrested to modify lm´s,since i get to use lathe, mill.tig, all kindsa equipement to make steel bend my way.
my wet dream in this area is to make a own workin multi from scratch.some rude, sturdy with pliers, some sorta wrench and 1/4 driver, with only some 1 half serrated blade to go with those other functions and leave all those  girlish tiny scissors and nailfiles away :D

anyway,heres to u

Good to have you!  Seems we are getting pretty popular in Scandinavia, what with all the Finnish and Norwegian members we've gotten lately!  Must have been that ad I placed on the boards during the World Juniors recently! :D

I think you've found a good place for you- we love tools, but have no problems with cutting them apart and re-building them, and many of our members are also cyclists (motor and manual) and I'm sure some have piercings I don't really want to know about! :P  We've got a bunch of mechanics and mechanically inclined as well... which makes sense 'cause this is a tool site!

Just watch what you say about SAKs though- I also happen to run the world's largest SAK collector and enthusiast group, and I've carried a SAK every day for over 25 years now!   :pok:  If you want to look at some SAK info, check us out at www.SOSAKOnline.com to see what's new and cool in the SAK world.

Welcome to the forum mate  Sound's like your gona fit in just fine here mate :)

Those Extreme Ratio's are awesome knives :), I had a Shrapnel briefly and it was a beautiful little thing :), I'd be interested on your thoughts on the Ranger 95, as it was always one of those knives I never quite got around to buying ::)

As for Swiss army knife's, how about one of these for you new one...

The Farmer's got a great following here :)

warning taken ;)

well anything with those scales looks intresting, hah.we dont have here,at least online, those aluminium sclade ones, just those red plastic ones mostly.but luckily i have paypal, and u might gve me links to sites/shops that ship overseas, and do custom jobs....umh...or sell separate tools/blades for my DIY projects.

i think every company should take a look into SOG and let go off those"dont open these by yourself" odd locking bolts, and let every man decide what he stuff between handles.freedom of choise :gimme:.

that farmer with phillips+pliers would be nice, and  maybe a file instead of saw?remove the punch-thingy,saw and can opener.possible?

hey what u wanna know of the ranger 95(sissipuukko in finnish)?
i think its a rel good worker, nothing fancy, but its sturdy, strong and ugly and does the chores without a slight problem.i have also earlier sissipuukko and that fella dont have even that much civiliced looks as the 95 has.it served me in army 1996,its an ealry production with no liner on sheath, and only the blade ate its way thru leather.i got a new with liner from the maker though, for some 10e.

Welcome to the forum, Tarrodemierda.

Be careful about that invitation from Def about visiting SOSAK. It grows on you fast, and you'll soon have too many SAKs.

heh,kinda like me too.

i keep lookin bit strange at some guys who chase those german-styled fully engraved almost ceremonial knives that are so impractical and fine to be used at all.

i dig the idea on things that are designed on use-basics,not show-basics.i guess thats why i spend my money on extrema ratio too,its big and heavy, bit clumsy to do some sausage-sticks but man u can punish it.id say its far more smarter way to invest money than 300 euros to some hand carved "lord of the rings" ritual/fantasy thing thats only collecting dust on display.but hey,if u dig that style,i respect that too, this only my humble opinion.

Welcome aboard!  As for not finding a SAK to fit you, have you ever tried on of the 111mm models as in this picture?

EDIT: got the size wrong!

HEY nutSACK  :D

stop it!

i didnt know the name for those large Macgyver`s,thos eare kinda intresting ones, dig that blade with thumbhole etc.

BUT ive noticed that man can surely change his tool set up on swiss tools and now i think ill have to get hold of certain blades/toosl and try to set up my own.

but i could buy one like yours, that camo and taht one with wooden scales are really nice.

They're all the same model--the One-Handed Trekker (OHT for short), just with some variation.

The camo one is a Swiss-only model with a corkscrew on the back, the one that looks like wood scales is actually natural micarta modified by user Scibeer here on multitool.org (also with corkscrew), and the bottom one is a SOSAK anniversary model with black blade.

The newer GAKs also have the same tool setup.
