Style PS and Squirt PS4 scissors spring bar breakage

Is the breaking of the scissors spring bar still an issue in Style PS and Squirt PS4 ?
Also , are the pliers identical to both models ?

I'm not sure if I'd call it an "issue", but I had the scissors spring bar break on a Style recently. LM replaced the whole tool under warranty no questions asked, so it didn't bother me at all.

and yes, the Style PS and Squirt PS4 use the same plier head.

Shalom isn't US based (the username might give his location away) so warranty replacements might not be that easy.

I've been wondering about the spring as well. It's been an issue since the first batch. I had one break as has about a dozen of other members. Haven't heard about it much recently though.

I had the bar break on a brand new early PS4. I hadn't used the scissors at all. Accidentally dropped the tool, opened up the scissors and the bar was snapped off.

maybe I've just gotten lucky... I have a couple PS4s and a couple Style PS that are users, and none of the scissors have broken. the only tool that the scissors broke on for me was a Style.

looking at the scissors, the spring bar is clearly a weak point in the design. I checked an older PS4 (black one on the right, with the torx screws), and the spring bar looks narrower on those scissors than on the newer PS4 (red one on the left). to me, this indicates that LM tweaked the design and tried to improve it by making the spring bar stronger/more durable, but it still looks like a weak point.

That photo from Breezy 12 does show a change for the better in the PS4.
Has anyone noticed that thicker spring bar in the Style PS ?

I have both a Squirt PS4 and Style PS. I haven't had problems with either. Both are the newer version.

But let me say neither are my daily carry tool, so the spring bar on them isn't getting tons of wear.

Mine broke on the old torx style PS4. No way was I sending it in to get the original replaced with the riveted version (I'm weird that way ), so I sourced a spring here on the forum thanks to tattoosteve and replaced it myself. It has the new style spring now. No problems since but honestly I rarely use the scissors on it. Don't have much confidence in them. For some time I had them replaced by a house key.

And same as Millhouse, mine just broke by themselves, not during use. Opened up the scissors and the spring was broken.

That was years ago though, so hopefully all the problems were with the old style spring.

Hi, I don't know what you mean by "still", but exactly 2 years ago the spring of my PS4 broke. LM took awesome care of me. Since then I've had 4-5 more PS4s and there's been no spring issue.

I had that exact same failure in a Gerber Dime.  I think it's just that design of scissors.
