1952 Soldier Question
on: June 10, 2014, 11:23:01 PM
Hey guys - while perusing the listings on the evil empire auction site, I ran across a listing for a very clean 1952 Soldier model listing. But it is tang stamped a bit differently. I'm not going after it, but I'm just curious.

Is this something Wenger did briefly or is it pretty common to run across this. It just seemed new to me, or if I have seen it before, I do not recall. Also entirely possible.

:) Thanks! Joe

This stamp was in use from 1951 till about 1964.

Looks legit to me Joe.  :salute: The Elsener, Victoria, and Wenger tangs when they switched to stainless (inoxydable) steel were then called Elinox, Victorinox, and Wengerinox.

I wasn't questioning the authenticity. I've purchased from this seller a few times. Have two in the way from him now actually. He often has some very nice stuff listed. Dang no willpower anyway.

I was just curious when they (Wenger) had this tang stamp in play.

I'm not a Wenger collector (thank goodness - Vic's are enough) but I guess if I were I'd have to look for an example in each year.

Thanks for the info!

Collecting one a year of Vic and Wenger got to difficult , I decided to go for Vic or Wenger makes for a much easier life.

As you probably know by now 1958 is the hardest year to find and I am guessing from your user name this would be an issue :(
