Jigsaw zero clearance foot plate?
on: June 13, 2014, 10:47:00 PM
Just wonder has anybody made these for jigsaw and how did you do it. Looking for ideas to improve mine.

I wanted to make one out of either metal plate or clear polycarbonate, but lacking the tools to bend thick metal, and place to get PC, I made one out of sheet metal from a computer case. So far it works well, I can make cuts that wasn't going to happen with original foot plate. I suppose I could've used plywood, or hard board, but didn't want to lose too much depth of cut.

I added a triangular viewing window in front of the blade, the stiffness didn't seem to be affected too much. In retrospect I should have started the window further up front, so the piece being cut would have more support.
