Yep. For me, recessed screws are more common than cans.

While waiting for my next projects, I figured I can try to put something together from parts left after my first modification. I used all possible parts and ended up with- Fisherman. Not close enough, but identical to the very last part.
I guess I will call it Fisherman's Leftovers.
I played with used/ old scales to see how they will fit. It took the same amount of force to press them on, as new scales and they seams to stay secure.
Would my peening the pins and possibly slightly hammering the bushings caused them to expand in diameter, so as to fit old scales tight, or will they eventualy come off?

It really depends on the scales and how much damage was done when taking them off.  Some I've done were just like yours and went back on like new, no need to glue at all.  Most of the time however the lip on the inside of the hole (where the bushing clips onto) gets at least partially damaged so the scale is at least loose and rattly, or just won't clip down at all.  Then it's time to break the glue out.

Picture of your Fisherman's Leftovers? :pok: :D

for new Forrester, so I made one. This one was easy, just the corkscrew in place of Philips screwdriver.

The TechCadet:
I had the Dremmel out and was about to do your mod, when another idea came to mind.  I did some grinding to sharpen the inside edge of the can opener to make it a clam packaging opener.  I did not have a clam pack to open so I tried it on the side of a Gatorade bottle (pretty think plastic) and it worked great.
