In a poor attempt to pull this topic back on track here are a couple more. After reading Neils "how to" guide I thought I needed to give it a go. So starting of with a Waiter and a Tinker Small, I ended up with a Apprentice and a Tourist.

Strangely, as I know I can still pick up a Tourist any time (umm...

), I didn't have one and ended up really liking it. Can you tell I've been learning some lanyard knots?

Works well with my other EDC SAK of a Rambler.

The scales on this are Nylon that has been rubbed down so as they are smoother. It gives a nice soft touch feel that I like far more than the standard Nylon.

I have very little use for a corkscrew but I'm not a huge fan of the backspring phillips.

The phillips aren't the greatest are they. $:-\$ Certainly better than nothing though.

I always prefer the look of the corkscrew. Just seems like a SAK should have one.

BTW, I know I'm not Gareth, but I thought I'd say anyway.

I have to say I'm a corkscrew man myself. I mostly did this to try out Neils how-to tip, and to fill in a couple of missing SAKs in my 84mm line-up. I mostly see the Apprentice as a companion piece to another, bigger SAK. Corkscrews are just a tool that I expect a SAK to have, I can't imagine the embarrassment of being caught without one when needed.

As I said above I was surprised that the Tourist appealed to me so much. I'm not a particular fan of the Spartan but the 84mm 2 layer format has really got to me. It works well when paired up with my Rambler.

Here is my latest one done this morning. I pulled apart my Alumnus and a Cadet, put the bits in a bag and gave it a shake. This is what fell out.

I took some time peening the pins and I'm not to unhappy with the end result.
