I've had several pairs of 84mm with screws and never had a problem

I've stonewashed several pairs and never had a problem after.  I do like the look of the brass over the screw.

In the past I have tightened the pivot screw by centrepunching the back side of it. Or lightly peening.

"center punching the back side" sounds dirty.

And fun.

No as dirty sounding as "dot punching the backside" which was the first draft...

Lol. You are right.

PTR do you make custom SAKs for other people or just yourself as a hobby?

I've done a few jobs for people, but poor availability of good price donors combined with high postage rates generally make it economically in-viable.

Australia Post is a bloody rip off.  However, if someone sends you donor knives and/or parts and is happy to pay labour and return postage, then you are happy to do the mods?

I am a proud owner of quite a few PTR Originals (but missed out on his custom Damascus solo :( ).  His work is highly recommended, especially his scale mods and more creative models.  He did originate the Wenger tools in 84mm Vic after all!

It depends on the mod. I'll try all kinds of crazy smurf on my own gear, but want to be sure of doing a high quality job for "customers". I'm not too worried about things like semi obscured nail nicks or slightly soft snap if it's on a FrankenSAK that I have thrown together for S&Gs. But tend to worry about things not being up to scratch for other people.

Case in point (albeit on a larger scale) I made this table for some friends and even if it is in a "rustic" style I was totally stressed that it wasn't good enough.

okay, they love it and paid me more than I asked for, but I still stress along the way.

I sympathise with you PTRSAK, after many stressful years of carpentry, with many happy customers, I decided to leave the job and I'm now an estate manager at a retirement complex and lo and behold, no more stress. I still love doing woodwork at home though.

The table looks beautiful by the way! If there was only a way to silence that pesky internal critic......

I had a Swisschamp in need of repair, and decide instead to take it apart and turn it into two knives (by including a Super Tinker).  More details/pictures that I didn't want to post twice:

My last work, file and sandpaper, the most difficult part is cutting out the slots for the tweezers and toothpick.

A little question: I'm waiting for a Vic Rally and have thought of swapping it's scales with (at least) the pen scale of the Signature Lite.

Is this easy to do? Just pop off, pop on? I was thinking of maybe do a full swap (pen + light scales). Any chance of breaking the led on the process?...
