Very nice.  :like: :like:
But then again, I’m biased.  :D :P
What spring did you use for the openers, and have you done anything to the bottle opener end of it?

I suspect you mean me.. I used the blade spring and did remove some material for the bottle opener and used som 0.4mm brass spacer.

It is made for the occasion of drinking beer and barbecuing in the park or when going to festivals etc when a blade is not really suitable. The scissors can still open up food packages.. Beer and barbecue so it is my B&B SAK and the full opening layer for all cans and bottles I come across.

No other mods so far. I'm quite happy with this one for "drunk" times and my expedition for pretty much all other days. The kids really like the magnifying glas and saw on that one and wants some of their own.

But I'm thinking of making a couple more blade less for the kids and let them use their fixed blade  knife for a couple of more years before getting a proper SAK

Sounds like a good plan.  :tu:
I was also thinking of extra bladeless SAKs, in this case for my younger siblings.

Yup, I think it's a great combination of tools.  Really wish Victorinox would produce something like this and make it available in the U.S. I know they've got the Duke of Edinburgh tool in the UK, but it's got that stupid rounded blade and is practically impossible to get on this side of the pond.

Hi, fellows!
I made a new 6 layer 93 mm alu knife two days ago, from new and old (fleemarket) parts, with tools I use the most and I don't want to be without them:

Big blade
another big blade
little blade
scissors
wood saw
metal file with saw and nailcleaner
bottle opener with wire bender and large screwdriver
can opener with little screwdriver
awl

Two egual big blades are a must for me – one for brutal use (like cutting sousage on porcelain plate or scraping something etc.), the other allways stays sharp for fine cutting. One big blade is marked Elinox, the other is from Soldier knife, year 08.
I have to use some imagination and »outside the box thinking« to assure good accses to all blades
First I want to use old red handles with old cross, but I found very deep an bad corrosion on inner side, so I took golden Bugnard ones.
I hope you like it.

I have boxes with many parts left from other modificationsI, so I really dont know exactly.
So, let's see:
1. Bugnard scales
2. Elinox Blades
3. 08 Soldier blade and awl
4. Solo spring for scissors
5. Everything else could (in theory) be from one knife.

Some small improvements I have done to my explorer

When I just got the explorer, it is always too slippery for my hand. So I used soldering iron to make some scare on the scales.

A pruner style blade was reshape frome the small blade.

One day I notice the philip drive on the can opener is almost the same size as the long philip driver, so I grind it down to fit a smaller philips.

I use the pin alot and always think the pin is so small and umcomfortable to hold. So I make one from those sewing kit and bend the back.

Hi guys!

A minor mod on my Electrician. I love having a small blade, but I miss the Phillips of the Pioneer. So I took my Dremel 3000 and turned the big flat driver into a 2d Phillips/small flat.

It works nicely. You can see the result compared to the original, and to the can opener / driver.
I'll do the same on my Rancher and Harvester.

Well this is awkward...
I had finally decided to buy some pivots and screws from Alpha Knife Supply, but due to the whole GDPR deal, EU residents, without a previous account in the site, are banned...

Anyone from that side of the pond would be willing to make a purchase for me? Please contact me by PM.

Ended up going with the pivots and screws from KnifeKits...
I know the tolerances are not as good, but I want to upgrade my daily SAK to pivots/screws.
Now, to complete this upcoming mod, I'm searching for a magnifying glass layer, but would like to avoid having to buy an Explorer just for that.
Anyone have these parts for sale?

And to finish, one question...
What's the thickness of the magnifying glass layer? The idea is to incorporate it in an Alox SAK, therefore, I need to find out which backspring I need to use to make this happen.

It's the same thickness as a Pioneer blade layer, whatever that is.

So you don’t need two of those blade springs?
