Nicely done.  :like:

Thanks. Just finished modding the small blade into a sloyd style blade for finer cuts.

Great! Make sure to head over to the SAK Whittling Club thread when you start using it  :tu:

L2R Bob Lessard Buccaneer, Magentus Green Hornet, and SwissBianco Carver SW. The latter isn´t a mod but a factory custom

Carbon fiber scales with T & T.
Two possibilities:
1 - One scale with toothpick + one scale with tweezers - 2.5mm thick each.
2 - One scale with toothpick and tweezers + one scale without tools - 2.5mm for the scale with tools and 1.5mm for the scale without tools.

Just need to polish the scales to complete the mod.

My newest mod an Alox Tinker X. Can’t realky call it a Super Tinker because it doesn’t have the hook and has a nail file rather than a second blade and it’s an 84mm... Maybe an Alox Super Tinker Small minus hook mani pedi edition? Anyway I think I am in love.

Yea kind of went nuts. Living in HK I have found a source of extremely cheap donor knives in a flea market. I am talking sub US$2 for recruits and $1.50 for the 58mm

Finally worked up the courage to pull apart my favourite Victorinox. A red Alox Cadet that I have carried on and off for the past 5-6 years, always wishing it had scissors. I think I have also finally got the Wenger in 84mm Alox mod, to get consistent snap and closure of the scissors I had to reshape the spring out of a Recruit as used in the tutorial on the board. I made a ramp out of the leading edge of the tool rear and all is well. I am truly happy to have a RED, as Macgyver would have had it, Alox 84mm Small Tinker X. The hardest part of this mod was working up the courage to make the first cut in the scale for the Phillips, knowing there was no going back.

Couple of questions @Andrew

Does the Cadet have four pins like a 91mm? As normally it has no backtools - right?
What spring did you use for the Phillips? As presumably this was not from a Cadet?

Looks great

@Huntsman

the cadet is built from the factory with 3 pins more similar to the 93mm models. To make this mod work there is a "floating" 4th pin that is counter sunk about 1mm or into the alox scales on either side, I also added the scale liner from the Small Tinker to add thickness to the scale with the phillips, you don't have to do this but the phillips will protrude out past the scale by a fair bit, it still isn't perfectly flush with the scale as built but it isn't annoying. This 4th pin holds in the springs with backside tools from sliding back and forth. I did it this way as I didn't want the 4th pin exposed as it would come out in the middle of the shield.

For the springs used the blade spring from a donor Small Tinker, again for the opener layer spring came from the Small Tinker. The spring for the scissors is a blade or opener layer spring (I cant remember) from an old style Recruit, no funny bumps and notches like the newer versions. The phillips rides the back side of the blade spring, and the awl is on the opener layer as they would be in a Small Tinker.

This all would be better with pictures I am sure, once I get started on projects I tend to get lost in them and never take pictures of what I am doing.

I don't know who did the work on this mod, but I like the looks of it.  It is inbound to me.
