Also a prototype 84mm spring has been made, maybe someone has already made a similar one, but would anyone be interested in such a spring?

If that's an 84mm scissor spring then I'm certainly interested! And I know there will be more...

I replaced the blade in this project with an Elmax and made a new spring specifically for the new blade, yes this spring is not fully machined yet, but I needed to test a couple frictions.  :climber:

That looks great! Good work!

  :tu:

I have successfully made a scissor spring in G-10 as an experiment. Since it´s the only tool on that spring it works really well.

It´s snappy and solid, just like the original. I only did a quick test using parts from a Alox, but it showes that it could be done. It´s light and hard with just a minimum of flex. And since it´s only for the scissors that it is not a tool used with the same force like a blade. It cave  me 100% confidence after really putting a lot of force on it, it will not break. To put a 91mm scissors in a 84mm frame this would be a perfect mod instead of cutting the steel and drilling new holes :)

You are most welcome. One benefit with G-10 is that you can use a 3mm and sand it down to 2,5mm quite easy ;)

For the first time, I am building a full metal. Not an Alox, but in brass. A Brazzox 😉 There is still a lot of work to be done, but this is wip so far

I think the 84mm full metal is the perfect size.  Small enough that the weight will be cut down a little.  Can't wait to see the next photos.  Your workmanship is always very good.  Best wishes.  Gary

That looks quite distinguished and classy. I am interested in how the patina sets in, so definitely keep us posted. How is the weight? Feel like a pioneer or heavier?

My Alox (A-lox) Cadet is 46g and the B-lox Recruit is 76g, a Pioneer wood is somewhere in between so the feeling is solid ;)
I actually gave it a ammonia patina for 4 hours, then polished the sides and inside to a shine. The brushing was a bit to sensitive to marks when it was shiny...
It´s a bit tricky to capture with the mobile camera, but it turned out a bit matte in a brown/green hue. Looks really nice in contrast with the polished sides :)

Been a while, got in the mood this evening and modded a Spydernox Explorer (minus small blade and awl). Spyderco Dragonfly 2 K390 Wharncliffe blade, Rit dyed older version magnifying glass, 93 mm bottle opener/flathead, fluted corkscrew, and hook with nail file.
