It's official; I've finally gotten into the fiddly world of 58mm mods. ::)  TBH this is about as easy as blade replacement mods get.  All I had to do was remove one pin, squeeze in the Emergency blade and file then tap a new bit of rod into place.  All in all it makes a nice little variation on the Classic.

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

So two more 58mm done this morning.  The first here was done in a similar manner to my previous 58mm, just removed one pin and squeezed in the cuticle pusher and file.  This makes for a re-creation of the Manicure.

The next one I had to strip the whole thing down and make from scratch, 58mm mods really are fiddly. ::)  What I ended up with was a Rally variation with the emergency blade, what I've been thinking of as the Rescue Rally.

I hope you like them.

Enabler....  ::)

I have a few classics lying around but I'd be more interested in the harder to find parts to play with ;)

On that thought Neil, how about a pic of your 74mm with combo tool mod? :pok:

I think there are a couple of action  shots of it on the forum somewhere    back in a sec...

Its the one on the left..

Better pics..

Its looking a bit rough theses days.  Two years of daily carry in my change pocket can do that to a SAK :)  Still works fine though, was using it this morning, in fact its probably my most used SAK.

Oooh, that sounds nice!

BTW Neil, what is the full tool list on your mod?  Combo tool, blade, small blade?, scissors, large file?

Two large blades, small blade, nail file, scissors, opener.  I've just treated it and my Scientist to a sharpen, they deserve it :)

What do you guys think of adding a Combo tool layer with both Phillips and Flat head tools? Too redundant?

I might be tempted to add the orange peeler rather than the flat headed combo tool.  if your not going to use that the I don't see the flat head combo as redundent.

I was thinking of keeping the full compliment of Executive tools. Adding a third layer with a combo tool leaves a slot open ...unfortunately, there isn't another unique tool I can think of for that.

Maybe I'll have a look at remodeling an abused main blade into a pick/pokey thing tool like that found on the Wenger PTC.

Ah OK, I see the issue.

  my first thought was the possibility of using another 58mm tool/tools, but I think the nail nicks would be lost, right?

Hummm...

Hummm...
Putting the layer in the center of the knife may allow the nicks to stand clear. Since they are 58mm blades the nicks are closer to the pivots...which may make them more accessible on a 74mm frame.

I have to say this having to balance out the sides is making my brain hurt. :ahhh

I think if it were me I'd go for something like this: main blade+small file, orange peeler, combo tool, scissors.  Almost all of the original functions of the Executive but with the added combo tool.  In fact that sounds like a rather good SAK to me, something to have a go at myself in the future (even if you decide to do it ;)).
