Garage sale razor

Picked this up at a garage sale for $2. Just wanted to share it and see if anyone knows anything about it. How old is this thing? Is it for blending hair? I ask because it has the guard which looks like it would act as a thinning cut to blend the hair...... I think. Thanks guys.

I already cleaned it up, but there is still that green crap on the inside of the blade holder and was wondering if there is anything I could soak it in to get that stuff off?

Thanks.

I have been doing a little bit of research and apparently you can use it as a "shaper" or remove the guard (like in picture 5) and use it as a straight razor to shave with. I'm liking it more and more.

How would I go about sanitizing it?

Anyone have blades for this thing?

Thanks. I found those as well. I'm still debating on buying blades or not. Not sure if I will use it, but I kind of wan't blades for it just in case.  Never know when they will stop making things and it looks as if Personna is just about the only one making these blades.

It appears the one I have is actually a vintage piece. They don't go for much, but it appears to be in the $10-$20 range depending on condition and mine is in pretty dang good condition. I'm not saying I bought it to sell as I actually quite like collecting old DE razors and wanted to venture into the Straight edge razor world of things. Nothing like my SAK or LM collection, but I do keep an eye out at garage sales for things like this and normally always buy old shaving stuff.

I'm pretty pleased with this one.  :D

I found this image from a thread on a shaving forum. Linked through there.

Here is the thread if anyone is interested.
