Tom, would it be easier if I brought my gas lighting out of my garden?

It's no hassle to shove the lantern in my car, I just need to remember to put some petrol in it  :tu:

That said, the more light the merrier

OK mate, I've just got some new cartridges for them, so I'll see if I can figure out a way to transport them safely.  :tu:

As an aside, I phoned Mark today, and he won't be joining us as he's booked up with something else. He has however asked if we want to borrow the big tent he had last year. It was a godsend for us last time with the heavy rains, and though not completely waterproof is did keep the worst off us. Do we know what we're likely to expect this year? Has Sparky Bloke done it to us again?  :P :D :D Has anyone else got any "group shelter" options?

UK Outlook for Thursday 7 Aug 2014 to Saturday 16 Aug 2014:
A band of rain and showers will move eastwards during Thursday, with drier and brighter conditions following. A mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers are then likely Friday and Saturday but with the chance of more persistent rain across eastern England for a time. It then remains unsettled into next week, especially in the north and west. A gradual trend to more settled conditions, especially across the south, is then signalled by the end of the period, with more in the way of drier and brighter weather. However it is likely to stay unsettled across the northwest. Temperatures generally near normal, but often warm and perhaps very warm towards the south and east. Winds generally light to moderate, but locally strong in the west at times.

Hard to say really so bring sun cream and wellies  ::)

I think TD said he might bring a gazebo

Both?

I'd say bring the big tent Al.  Did we just have the flysheet up last time, or was Mark sleeping in it as well?  Anyway, if no-one else is bringing anything similar then I''d say it might be worth it.

No probs. I've had orders from his Mrs to go round and see them for a cuppa anyway  :D so I'll pop round on Thursday and grab it  :tu: Last time we had the fly up and Mark had one of the rooms up as well, but if we only have the fly up there'll be even more room inside

I'm going vaguely near my parents on the way so could nick their gazebo if needed, but Mark's tent did a good job last year

My garden lighting is those Hotspot gas lights that take the propane torch cartridges. I've just got some new carts for them which should give 8-14 hours light - so long as I can transport them safely enough. There's 4 of those.

I also have one of those bird feeder pole thingies that's a take-apart pole with a number of "shepherds hooks" on the top, which might be OK for one/both of those petrol lanterns. If either Tom or Michael want to "commandeer" that at the end of the meet, you're quite welcome, as I don't use it.

Good to hear you have a tent John  :tu: I'll prob still chuck a spare in the car anyway, incase anyone gets in difficulties  :salute:

As pretty much everyone but Smashie has seen the bulk of my gear anyway, I'm not going to be bringing everything down again in the vain attempt to save some petrol money ::) As such, shout up if there's anything you specifically want me to bring, or it might not be coming  ;)

Yeah  :-\ he'll be busy having fun with the wife and kiddies though that weekend.

I'm planning on coming "self-catering" unless anyone else takes the lead on the food situation. I did that last time which makes me exempt this time :P :D :D :D

Mrs TD is having a clear out in the kitchen and will be throwing away some old saucepans. I shall try and stick them in the car to bring as a 'one use and throw' deal.
Water containers might be handy folks ! even just a couple of old plastic bottles, ie. 2ltr or 3ltr cola bottles or washed out milk bottles. if everyone brings some we'll have plenty. it saves hiking to and fro the tap ;)
bring a bag of BBQ charcoal if you can (like you can pick up in the super market for a few quid)

Truth be told, trying to buy, store, ship, prepare and cook the "zoo" was a bit of a farce last time. I'm quite happy with a weekend of feding myself noodles, spam, cous cous, and other easy foods  :tu:
