This is the key. :tu:  It's really not that difficult and just takes a couple of vaguely special tools, a good eye, time and patience.  For a bunch of people who pride themselves on carrying tools to let them deal with unforseen problems and little emergencies, I see a lot of hesitation when it comes to mods.  Just get stuck in. :)

I thought about peening with the drill press, but I used a hand drill and inserted the brass into that and used a 1oz hammer (TOO SMALL, lesson learned)
the only hammer I had was a 1 oz watch hammer, and a 16oz claw hammer.  neither is ideal, and I will invest in another hammer 6-8oz before I ever do this again.

The watch hammer you mentioned is something like the pic below? Half iron, half rubber? I looked in some stores for a small ball hammer (3rd pic below) but the lighter they had was a 300gr/10oz. It seemed a little too big and heavy to use in such a small pin.

I like the one in the second image, seems light and easy to handle. Will try to find one.

  • It is what it isn't.
The Swisschamp without the fish scaler and add the CT layer would be ideal.   :tu:

I think I would like to have a concave punch next time for the pin that does not have a bushing.  anyone know where I can buy one? I found one set at Amazon, but it is $7 shipping

 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IZT32O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=14XDCPFU6FJUZ&coliid=I1TNR33M35HCIT

basically, I would like this to help form the rounded head on the pin that holds the back tools in.

I need something that looks like this

that looks like this at the end

If I can help, let me know

  • I may get older but I refuse to grow up.
I made mine out of a regular one with the help of a round headed (ball burr) diamond dremel bit

went to the hardware store to buy a punch just to hollow out the end, (the same one I asked if they had punches with concave ends).  3 punches for $2.
I open the package just to find that the tips are concave!  :ahhh   Enki,  you solved my problem by getting me to buy a regular punch to mod,  I got luck and the work is already done!

pictures are coming back now,  note to self, NEVER organize Photobucket,  better to have duplication, than broken links
