New MUT, but can't get the screwdriver out

Greetings all.  I received a brand new MUT yesterday.  I love this thing, but I cannot for the life of me remove the screwdriver with my bare hands.  I have searched and watched videos to make sure I am actually doing what I should be, but the only way I can get the screwdriver out is to grip it with pliers.  I have tried to "exercise" by removing and replacing the tool ~100 times but that has not helped.  Has anyone encountered this?  I would appreciate any help you can give.  I won't be terribly surprised if I am just missing the boat here, but I have handled the tool before and was able to remove and replace the screwdriver easily on the sample I handled.  Thanks for any help you can give.  Have a great day.

Might sound silly, but are you pressing down on the release for it?

It doesn't sound silly at all.  I think that I am pressing down on it.  It doesn't really move much when you press, but it seems that I am.  I watched a couple videos to look at that   Thanks.
