This reminds me of my childhood. I was born and raised in Alabama. Ms. Keller was from Alabama and there is a Institute for the Deaf and Blind in that area.  Part of the culture during the 70's and 80's were the politically incorrect Helen Keller jokes.  Loved the jokes when I was a kid.
