Finally lost a Leatherman
on: July 18, 2014, 04:10:55 AM
Having read another thread about carrying a SAK to Disneyland, I decided to take my brand new Squirt on my visit to my local theme park than my usual Skele/Style.  I just dropped it in my pocket and into the park I went.

It's still there.

It's an irritating thing that I keep kicking myself over.  On the one hand, I hadn't formed that much of a bond with it yet, but it was brand spanking new.  At least it wasn't one of my more expensive tools that I've become accustomed to carrying.
My EDC:
Leatherman Skeletool   Led Lenser P3 AFS P
Leatherman Style CS    "Fauxton"
Sharpie Twin Tip           Bic Mini

Was it confiscated? Lost on a ride? Misplaced?

I lost one Leatherman,  it was a bad feeling,  and I was lucky it was just a Wingman that I bought on sale for $20.00 (I bought two, still have one)

I felt crushed at the time, still feel bummed about it, but that day, I felt like someone had stole my 69 GTO Judge  (IF I HAD ONE, which I do not)
If I can help, let me know

Funny thing, I was walked through a metal detector, keys, change, and a steel tool in my pocket, the metal detector went off, and I was waved into the park, no questions asked.

My experience was, I put it in my pocket, drove two hours to the park, and when I put my hand in my pocket on my way out of the park, it was gone.

From now on, I'm carrying my Dime to theme parks.

Did it fall out in the car?

My thought as well. Check under and inside the seats. Hope you find it. :tu:

Yeah, I could have lost a lot more.  Well, I hope someone finds it and enjoys it.  I'll replace it at some point since I was pretty happy with it.

And it's not in the car.

I remembered almost losing my Crocs on a ride in Islands of Adventure. This was my fault as my legs were kicking everywhere...

Bummer about the leatherman.  It was probably my post you were reading.  I am on the hunt for a new SAK to take with me and I would give it a 50/50 chance I will lose it.  I have lost a nice streamlight pen light on a ride but I cant remember if it was in Disney or Universal.

What this incident has shown me is a use for the Dime.  The Dime is cheap enough to not give a crank if you lost it, functional enough to tighten a bolt on a stroller or open a screwed-on battery compartment, and the scissors are good enough to remove tags and packages from souvenirs and such, even though mine are broken.  It's now the official theme park and risking getting lost tool.

Why on earth were you walking around Sea World with over a grand on you?

Were you shopping for dolphins?

Are you fresh out of performing Orcas?

Do they offer gambling?

Or do the seals wear g-strings now and only perform for gently tucked in $1s?

Plus 1k at friggin' Sea World.  :twak:

Some smurf stole my wallet off the table when we went out for dinner with my parents last New Years Eve. The thief must have been pretty happy with what they found, there was close to $1k in there and all my ID to fly home the next day. " HAPPY FKN NEW YEAR" Didn't go down well at the Air Port. But life goes on and we learn from our mistakes.

Begs the question why would you leave your wallet on the table?

I lost my old Leatherman Kick a few years ago when up the Coromandal on a fishing trip. There's no phones or running water or anything up there... real nice, remote and quiet.

What pissed me off is I didn't drop it over the boat or anything... it just disappeared. I spent hours looking for it.

On the plus side as a result of that I own heaps of Leatherman's now and came to this fine forum... wait... that's a plus right? :P

Well I was surrounded by family, I felt pretty safe. All the women had their handbags on the table, we were drinking and chatting. You know it's New Year's Eve. It felt pretty safe on the table in front of me. At that point I wasn't really thinking somebody was gonna steal it. I have a suspicion it was one of the waiters cleaning up the plates that saw the opportunity and swiped it.
