How badly do you have to have a black tool, Joel?

Its not mandatory.  I just like testing the black oxide finish.

I'm going to pm you
I find the BO on my MP600 to be the absolute best out of any tool I've owned. It's tough and doesn't seem to rub off as bad as the LM's BO.

Mr Blunts black oxide finish is holding up very well.

It seems a bit thicker than leatherman and about the same as victorinox.  The worst black oxide coating I've had on a tool was on a sog
 It came off very easily.

Mr Blunt 2.0 is in the works :)

Nope. I got offered a excellent deal on a mp600 pro scout in stainless with a couple of black inside tools

I think I might try a two tone mod . Black frame sliver tools.

It should look pretty sweet.

I've been really terrible at updating and taking action shots for this topic. Works been crazy and I just haven't had time

so here's my thoughts on it so far.

I've used most of Mr Blunt's functions and im happy to be working with him so far.

All of his tool are short but stout from the pliers to the drivers all seem to be well built and strong for there size.

The Blunt nose pliers are nice. They seem very strong.  I think I can get a stronger grip on them also because of the handle. The cutters are not as good as the leatherman style but are ok for medium cutting. The more I carry it the more I like the Blunt pliers they make some jobs like pulling small nails much easier. The teeth are cut well and get a good bite into there work.

Inside tools
there's nothing special about the small and medium drivers they work just fine. the largest flat and the Phillips are great , the plane edge blade has stayed sharp with a easy touch up. I haven't sharpened the serrated edge yet, it has kept a great edge I have yet needed to touch up

I have yet to open a can or bottle with him.  now that I think about it I have yet to need to open a can or bottle at any job I ever worked on lol

Anyway

Mr Blunt has been a good tool.

 I am Glad I gave a Gerber a try.

The MP 600 lack of tools is its only flaw.

One I plan on fixing but that's going to be a topic in itself

Cool, I'm glad it seems to be performing well for you so far.  I look forward to your modded version.  I bet the black/silver combo will look cool 8)

It should be pretty awesome. I'm excited. My first Gerber mod  :ahhh

I'm going to stick it out for the next couple weeks with him just the way he is. It's a review on the mp600 after all. Sorry for almost screwing it up

I should not have picked this tool for a review in the first place
It lacks so many tools I'm used to carrying

Don't get me wrong he's a good worker the way he is. I've enjoyed using him . I'm just used to more function out of my multitool

I got a few pics of the man in action today.

He got me out of a jam this morning at the gravel pit. I shut the dump truck off while waiting to get loaded and it lost all power.

Bad connection easy fix

I also got some twine wrapped up on the suspension but a quick cut from Mr Blunt took care of it

I spent most of the rest of the day shoveling and raking dirt

I forgot the coolest thing that happened with Mr Blunt today.

I was in the office after lunch waiting to punch back in after my break and I was playing with Mr Blunt flicking his pliers open. My boss says let me see that tool. He looked it over good pulled out the blades tested to see if there sharp then hands me my tool back saying. I think you got yourself a good tool there. He asks how did I flick it open like that. I told him easy and showed him so he gave it a try and flicked it open his first try. You should have seen the smile on the old man's face. It was truly a priceless moment.

He's 87 and likes his saks and multitools. He carries a side clip now and then but he's never without his vic classic . I have a cool boss.

 :multi:

Ps

I gave him a micra last Xmas he used it a little and liked it but the vic classic was back in his pocket after about a week.   :multi:  :multi:

I find flicker Gerbers quite uncomfortable, I prefer to push the buttons and let the handles drop.

It's just a matter of holding the tool correctly while flicking the pliers out.

I know your job is tough but that's cool having a boss that's into SAKs and MTs :D

I got a few pics again today

I did some yard work this morning

Tightening a rusty screw on the backpack sprayer I was using

And spent most of the afternoon driving.

I did take a break to get some pics I've needed to take

the leatherman bit adapter fits like it was made for it
It adds alot of function to this tool.

I like this blade shape unfortunately the opening hole doesn't line up with the cut out in the Handel. it is still easy enough to open but it seems to me it would have been easy to make right in the first place.

Both sides are a little different too

It's sharp enough the way it is.

Truthfully
I don't care for it much it's just too odd a shape that doesn't fit in the tool with a bad grind.

Come on Gerber  :bnghd:

I hate the "newer" style blade shape they use. It makes no sense to be. The blade opens so it has to clear the whole tool to use it to cut anything on a flat surface and the blade having absolutely zero belly makes it impossible to cut anything on a flat surface with anything but the very tip of the blade. I have no idea why they ever switched to that blade shape and style. It's pretty much the one thing I hate about the MP600 and MP400 design. I much rather have their older style blade even if it is a half serrated. It's much better than the crap blade they use now.

I will complain about it until the day they change it, then complain some more because they ever thought it was a good idea/design.

I know Sawman loves it though. Don't know why.  :pok:
