Could you save some of that wire and test it with the OHT, ST300 and Rebar etc?

Can do  :salute:

I'll cut off a length right now. IL take it home for some testing.

How soon do you think you could test the other cutters on that wire, I'm very curious?

I decided for the last day of this review I am carrying Mr Blunt in the sheath he came with.

I like it better than I thought I would.  It seems too be made well and rides nice on my belt. It rides a little high but not annoyingly So. It holds the tool well good velcro and his a thin profile so it doesn't stick out to far.

I like it. It's just as good maybe better than the sheaths that leatherman provides with there tools.

Tried my neighbors, he is a self employed handyman and he got me into the habit of carrying a crescent wrench and full set of pliers along with an mt in my edc, and both of his gerbers, a flik and a stainless mp600 bent at the top pivot in the handles, making them very difficult to deploy, and on his mp600 the Phillips bit and the blade snapped clean off....granted he uses a mt for things I wouldn't dream of doing, but he swears by a leatherman wave and is so impressed by my oht he is thinking of coming to the dark side. Not saying its a bad thing to buy a Gerber, I love their pocket knives, but I haven't had the best "battle reports" from someone who uses them more frequently than a wrissmurfch

I hear you GunnerJ,but I came here as a LM fan,and just dismissed Gerbers out of hand. Having had a MP400,and a couple of 600s,they're as good as anything for general use,and better than certain LMs.

If you see an MP going cheap, take a punt, you might be surprised :D

:D a wrissmurfch is a funny thing our obscenity filter does, same with salsmurfer.  There's a naughty word in the middle of those, and the software changes it to smurf.

As to buying and using a Gerber, I once broke a Suspension while handling it in a store.  ::)  I swore I would NEVER own a Gerber tool after that.  However, I took a chance on an MP450 in my first trade here, and fell in love with it.  I don't baby my tools, though I don't knowingly abuse them either.  There are at least 15 Gerber tools here now (lost count  ;) ) and the MP400/600's are some of my hardest working tools by any manufacturer.  The vast majority of tools I see at work (I work with contractors all day) are MP's as well.  They might not be the fanciest new design on the market, but those Gerbers are solid, hard-working tools that do their jobs day after day.  :tu:

Not to forget, the Gerbers are also relatively cheap - that makes it easier for several people to use them for dirty jobs.
Have fun.

Michael

Final thoughts

Mr Blunt has been a good tool. Maybe not the best but good enough to get a lot of work done.

I do wish he had a better tool set but I knew that when I bought him.

The cost of this tool makes up for anything it lacks.

I'm still not sure if I prefer the bluntnose over needle nose. I've found that's more of a right tool for the right job thing more than preference.

Gerber black oxide coating is as good as leatherman,  better than sogs and worse than victorinox.

It's stubby tools weren't really a issue. I thought they would be.

Gerber s replaceable cutters were a little dissapointing but they did work for most tasks.

The Blunt nose is the way to go for me with Gerber pliers I hate the way there needle nose sticks out of the Fram when closed.

The blades held a good edge and we're easy enough to sharpen.

They NEED to ditch the stupid lanyard ring for a much needed awl.

The sheath seems to be made just as well as leatherman

We'll that's about all I can think of for now.

Watch for Mr Blunt 2.0 my experience with Gerber isn't over yet.

Another excellent review Joel!

You've certainly showed the MP600 to be a worthy multitool. It's still a favorite of mine although I've made some realizations of how other tools are better in certain situations.

I keep changing my multitool of choice for one reason or another. When I do start carrying one again, I'm thinking it may be a Wave and this is influenced by your wire cutter test.

It's always a little sad to see a review end but I'm really looking forward to the New Surge, I think you're going to love that tool :salute:
