MAST-R Wrench - Fireman's Tool
on: July 30, 2014, 08:08:14 PM
Fireman's tools are a whole subgroup of interesting multitools unto themselves.  I saw this one on the 'bay and snagged a photo to post for posterity.  This one appears to be brass(?).

MAST-R and patent pending are the only identifying marks.  Reminds me of the wrecking bars made by Stanley and Dead On to name a couple.

In my childhood, we lived across the street from a large firehouse (the main one for the village), and got to know the firemen well.  All sorts of flanged dohickeys were carried on those trucks.  That picture you put up sort of resembles the gas shutoff tool they used.

Neat tool! I think it may be a tool used to turn on fire hydrants judging by the pentagonal opening which is characteristic of a hydrant.

You're probably right, taking a second look at it.

It is a multi purpose tool. I suspect the slot at the bottom or far right in the picture would or could be used for gas shutoff valves.
