As a kid, friends of mine had a small farm (parents from Holland). Visiting them, their boys and I would spend all day playing in the fields and ditches. To preserve our shoes, their mother would make us wear wooden shoes. Easy to clean. I can't remember complaints about comfort, other than I would get a heel blister from the loose fit. A local house framer from Holland was infamous for wearing his wooden shoes everywhere but church. He was even able to walk on the rafters and 2x4 framing while wearing those. Quite the skill !

But I'll never know whether he carried a SAK 😀 (skillfully reverts back to topic here).
