For someone who famously once declared:  LINK  : I don't collect Alox
(Original badge request photo below - As Photobucket lost original)

I find my collection has grown even more since that statement   - And it's all RED  ...   :pok:
 ..... So now.....   :o
  • Of course the MTo Pioneer X in pride of place
  • A '63 Soldier
  • Two Old Cross Pioneers - Both pre '85 (Small V in Victorinox tang stamp)
  • A Cadet
  • A lovely old 58mm Executive - Single spring scissors and 'Victoria' tang stamp - yay!
  • And a red Alox Secretary
Question ???
The two 'Old Cross' Pioneers are interestingly different - Elinox and 'PAT' stamps on one of them - VSSR, Keyring and more polished tools on the other.
- I guess the Elinox one is older (PAT stamp) and also an economy version - Or is it a time thing? - Older versions had less polished tools   ???

I'm not sure this allows me to upgrade the Alox badge - As I would have to claim that all these reds are different colours - Which I don't think they are!    :(
- The red on the MTo PX is wonderful - A deep scarlet that seems to be the same shade as the Cadet
- The old Pioneers and Soldier seem to be the same
- And the smooth Aloxs are also the same shade

So a few new Aloxes knives - But no new colours    :(

My non-collection has had its ups and downs.  I went CRAZY with soldiers for a while, now I'm down to 10 if you can believe it, but just found a trove of NIB OC Pioneers (pics to come soon)

As far as your polish question, I'm sure jazzbass knows but it seems kind of inconsistent to me.  A lot of the 60's knives I see, Elinox/Victorinox/Hoffritz are VERY polished while others not so much.  There are differences in the polish with Vic and Wenger and among themselves in similar years.  I have found no rhyme or reason with the changes in grind/polish... up into the 90's they change quite a bit.

I have found no rhyme or reason with the changes in grind/polish... up into the 90's they change quite a bit.

Found this old post which lists chronological developments/changes to the Farmer
- Which I think we can assume matches the Pioneer's
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,27316.msg481269.html#msg481269

It's a shame there are no dates to match the pictures and that the thread did not continue :(
There is so much info buried in MTo - Its just a case of finding it !!

However he does say they stopped using the Elinox stamp in '74
Interestingly he also says the 'PAT' stamp disappeared in '71 - Which concurs with your proposal in the other thread :tu:
So maybe my older knife is pre  '71

When he says old vs new saw teeth - I think be means the older slopey vs later vertical teeth

Not sure JB will chip in here as he always declares himself to be an Officer's knife man! Although seems to know just as much about Alox!!   ;)

They just got here yesterday,  3 of them, but only 2 had the box, the 3rd was a display model.  The display has brass liners and the boxed ones are nickel-silver.  Will take pics today.

Nothing has been announced officially, so maybe.
It might just be an elaborate ruse, though

Yup. Just read some discussions on this on one of the collector’s grp on fb... The owner of the sak admitted that this isn’t the real deal... He just etched it it had it etched...
