LM, I got that limited edition SAK from one of the knives store in Shagrila Plaza Mall in Manila. I got it for 1,500 pesos or 34 USD equivalent. It is also available online at almost the same price.

There are also many SAKs on display in the Men's section in big departments stores in the malls. Some store selling watches are also selling SAKs. Victorix must have a massive sales drive just recently here. Wenger can also be found in several stores.

Yep I've heard nothing but good thing's about them, and I really should get myself one at some point

So are you a Sak fan as well then mate

Micky D, Yes I am. Orignally had a Tinker when I was around 12 or so, then got a mechanic, and now a Super Tinker.

I'm currently EDC-ing a Leatherman Core and Super Tinker.

oh, and forgot to add:

The Super Tinker has all the tools I need and only one I don't (that hook thingy), and it presents a very compact package…fits into the change/watch pocket of my jeans.

Tinker has been my faithful EDC for 20+ years, except when some years ago I EDCed a Super Tinker for several months.

Super Tinker is a wonderful SAK and I loved having its scissors available, but it was just enough thicker than Tinker that it bugged me to carry it loose in my pocket.

Same thing with Mechanic - just slightly too thick for me to pocket carry.  Deluxe Tinker is also a superb SAK, but even thicker.

I really wish Vic would offer the whole Tinker lineup, including the Mechanic, in a shorter format like they do with the small Tinker.

I am in love with my Tinker. I've only had it a few months and I don't think we will ever part.

I might get a Spartan Lite for the end mounted phillips, but then I'd have to mod it to have a mag glass instead of the light.
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.

I still have an old Tinker with a chipped plastic panel. Very slim. Vanishes in the pocket.

I've recently gone back to carrying my Golfer "special".  (84mm Golfer with long nail file)

It's not necessarily my favorite SAK, but it pairs very well with a Spirit for a "minimalist" carry.  The long nail file makes this the best Victorinox model for fingernail maintenance, IMO.  I prefer it even to the great file on the Executive.

It is a lot of knife in a small package. like all the 84mm's. Why on earth they stopped making these Golfers and left the field to Wenger i will never know

Agreed. The only reason I can come up with is that Vic was vacating the space to help Wenger since they own them.  :-\

(Image removed from quote.)

Nail files are inordinately important to me, so I am really curious about that long file.

I have a really hard time visualizing how it works. It looks so thin and pointy that it would be awkward to use?  I can't even make out the grind of the file on the surface.  Am I looking at it from the wrong angle. ???

The file grind is only on the surface that is against the knife, you can't see it in that pic.  There is a very nice nail cleaner at the end.  When folded, it is flush with the back of the knife and it is hard to tell that it is there.  It looks very much like the regular backspring on most SAKs with scissors.  It is not fully open in the pic--it opens about 160 degrees.  One thing you may not have noticed is that the scissors on models with the long file open opposite all other Vic models--from the same end as the large blade.

I suppose it was a bit awkward to use the first few times, but I got used to it very quickly.  It is a shame that Vic discontinued this file, and also a great shame that they discontinued the scissors on the 84mm models.  There may still be some 91mm Climbers available in European stores with the long file.

Favourite SAK would go to the CT41. Especially since I found a nice 4mm bit set that has Robertson (square drive) bits so I can cover all of the bases around the house.

For pure nostalgia reasons, I'm going to vote for my Wenger serrated toolchest.  It was my first "genuine" SAK and I've had it for ages.  Still works pretty nicely despite the abuse I heaped on it as a teen.

Objectively, I think my favorite is just a plain old Vic Spartan.  I think it is the definition of elegance.

To be honest, the Classic SD is pretty darn handy.

What is my favorite SAK? Hmm, that is a difficult question.

Would it be my Huntsman, with all the tools it has to handle any situation? Nah, I love it, but it is just too think to ride in my pocket.

How about my shiny and sturdy Harvester? Wonderful tool set, but it just feels like a brick in my pocket and I can't get used to it.

My Spartan? Nice, very close to my favorite. Usually only have to open wine bottles at home, no need to EDC a corkscrew I suppose.

My Tinker Small? Now we are talking, I do love this SAK. However there is one I adore even more.

It's the Manager! This little beauty always lives on my keychain and provides me with a mini-toolchest at a moments notice! It even has a pen, which always makes me giddy when I get to write with it.

My favourites:

Pouch (all the time) - rambler. Serves 95% of my needs
Pocket (all the time) - pioneer. For the cool factor. After 2yrs of carry, I think mine still has its factory edge
Bag (for work) - craftsman. I teach science in a government school. So no use for corkscrew, ruler/fish scaler, mag glass
Luggage (when travelling) - Swisschamp, what else?
Car - Spirit X, erm... also in brand new condition after 2yrs
Kitchen - Spartan. Despite its military beginnings, its toolset is most useful around the kitchen

I know my list is kinda boring but it covers all bases for me

Pioneer here (urban environment) and usually in conjunction with a MiniChamp for the scissors.

My current favorite for EDC in a pocket would be Tinker.
For car or bag carry it would be Mountaineer.

Some complex hybrid of SAK's that I might sort out one day...

One Handed Trekker NS - Preferred EDC generally; pocket carry.
Victorinox S557 - For maximum functions in a pocket carry that looks less like a weapon; for EDC.
SwissTool RS - Heavier duty house/property tasks; long distance travel. Not EDC.
MiniChamp Lite - Fun for the small jobs; light is useful. Not EDC.
SwissChamp XLT - Long distance travel; fun. Not EDC.

There are so many others...  :climber:
