What razors do you guys use? (Plus a rant)

I currently use an electric shaver.. It's a Norelco 1050 Arcitec.. It works phenomenally! It is a little pricey, but I save a ton of money in the long run by not having to buy blades..

Well I have now used my new Gillette Fusion Power - Stealth version ( ) and it actually worked pretty well.  The blades didn't get clogged at all, so it is miles better than the Quattro and I liked the sensation of the powered part.  The single blade on the back was pretty handy as well.

This thread has made me think just how long I have been shaving...18 years

Every Christmas I'm bought the latest and greatest Gillette by my mother.  I think its in the hope I'll shave more than once a week.

I hate shaving and with each generation of razor the process did seem to become less arduous.  The new five blade razors are in my personal experience a step backwards.  For me The Mach3 Power body with the slightly older (and cheaper) Mach3 original blades is where its at. 

My brother and I have this theory that they'll keep adding blades until you end up with something that resembles a cheese grater that you rub on your face.  We've named it The Slab^TM.

I was highly sceptical about the Mach3 Power but was pleasantly surprised. 

I noticed some of the ladies razors have started adding a vibrating motor, most seem to have somewhat bulbous ends.... now these I'm suspicious about

The non vibrating Fusion is the best I ahve found so far I generally have 5 o clock shadow by about lunch time

I used to use a Mach 3 until the blades became $$. I now use a Panasonic ES8152 e'tric razor, and it's the best one I've ever used. It'll do wet or dry shaving. I've had it for about 4-5 years now and I finally broke down and got a new blade and foil shield for it. It's back as good as new. If I want a quick, bladed shave I'll buy mid-brand disposables, never the real cheap ones. Edge shaving gel is the best for me. I've used foams, gels, soap, nothing, and prefer the gel.

I reckon either that will happen and we'll end up with this thing plastered accross advertising boards



Or they will come out with 'a revolutionary blade, so sharp and so efficient you only need one of them....', with gillette claiming they are the first company to invent a single blade shaving system....  Of course everyone will buy it as they are so used to crazy amounts of blades that they've forgotten such a thing used to exist.

For the record i use a wilkenson quattro, though as soon as i've used up these blades i'm going to look for something else, they're great for one or two shaves but after that they're just too clogged up with hair to do anything, to get them useable again you would need to use another razor to shave that one

Abstraction, I had the exact same problem with mu Quattro.  I have never had a razor that clogged up as easily as that one.

I've got a mate who works for a large pharmacutical company, who amoung other things looks at the science behind how these razers work.  He insists there is a lot of research that goes into every new razor out on the market, and that it isnt just a matter of 'lets add another blade and see if they're stupid enough to buy it', but i'll be damned if i can see how these new ones are an improvement - i find disposables last longer than the blades on this thing (though the first shave with a new blade is fantastic i'll admit that). I got this one when i lost my mach 3, and i think i'll try and get hold of one of those again; i would get a cut throat but i don't think ill have the time to do a proper job on workdays and would just end up rushing and cutting myself.

 I get more satisfaction and close shaves from a cheap Bic single edge disposable than anything else.I just found that the old double edge safety razors are still made,those things shaved closer then anything I ever used.
