I took my blue bike to the shop to have it looked at. The guy there told me it just wasn't worth fixing up. :( on the way home, I passed a pawn shop, and outside was a NEW mountain bike. How new? It still had a Walmart barcode on it! So, I went inside and made a deal. For my blue bike and $20, I now own this..... :D

 It's beautiful. Interesting drop out design. By the pics looks like the rear spacing for a fixie wheel will be wider than for geared wheels. Thought they were both 130mm.

It should be 135mm - for a standard MTB disc hub. I've already got the hub (Surly Ultra New fixed/disc) built into a wheel, ready to go.

That is shaping up nicely... so we need more pictures, more specs (weight) :salute:

That's as far as I got last night.  Going to try to get some more done this evening.

Frame is 1.8kg, fork is 0.5kg.  Most of the parts will be transferred over from another bike that weighs about 11kg (with lights, pump and mudguards) - I expect this one to be around 1kg lighter than that.

Fork is Kinesis Tripster ATR - full carbon disc with tapered (1.5" - 1 1/8") steerer
Wheels are Stans Alpha 340 rims on Surly Ultra New fixed disc rear hub and Shimano XT dynamo disc front hub with Challenge Strada Bianca tyres.  DT Comp spokes with brass nipples.
Cane Creek 40 headset (external cup lower, zero stack top), Brooks Cambium C17S saddle, Thomson seatpost + clamp, ITM stem, Nitto Noodle handlebars.
Shimano UN55 bottom bracket with Sugino XD cranks, 43T Stronglight chainring and 17T Surly fixed cog.  SRAM 8 speed chain.  Shimano PD-M540 pedals.
Brakes are Avid BB7 with 160mm Shimano rotors (6-bolt rear, centre-lock front), SRAM S500 levers.
Will have sealed cables, fixed dynamo lighting front and rear and SKS mudguards for full-on low maintenance winter riding.

Done.  Not the ideal first ride (75 damp hilly-ish miles) but everything worked nicely enough.  Only needed to tweak the saddle position once, and I reckon that the handlebars are either a little low or a little too far away.  More experimentation needed.  The ride is really good - stable and comfortable - and the build went well too.  Weighs 23.3 lbs with lights, guards and pump. :tu:

Here is a picture of my franken bike out on a rail trail near Pittsburgh, PA:

gear setup is 9x2
Gevenalle Shifters
Cyclocross frame
Mavic wheels
Mix of XTR, Campy, Shimano parts
700x38 tires- Kenda Kourier in the Front and a generic CST hybrid tire in the back.

Lots of fun on the road, trails and even in the woods.

Well gang.  After some thing, and my tax refund, I purchased a new Bicycle.  It's made by Giant Bicycles, and it's called the Momentum "I need Street".  Does anybody else have one??
