If there were big scary bears round there, I don't think you'd have caught me sleeping out in a tent!  Cabins all the way!

Glad you had a good time and thanks for all the pics.

ok,as i am goin away for a little outdoor trip,im packing up my gear, and now i have pretty much new stuff to to test, like the maxpedition m-2 belt pouch and my small backpack, ive been tryin all kinds of setups and contents,as i dont wanna drag around too much gear.so,here it is,all iam carryin for this three night long trip.i havent added yet the meals, but all the other stuff is there.inside theres a two piece tarp from swedish special forces unit, from late eighties, stove, cup, pan, pot, lighters, matches, sleeping bag, towel, big nalgene bottle, few energy bars, tradesman, tracker, flashlight etc.im so excited,we are planning to sleep the first night in the old log camp cabin, and the next one in woods just under lean-to and tarp,by the fire, and the las one in cabin again,as there will be more folks coming to cabin with us and tehy dont have any cold weather sleeping bags etc.im goin to drag the camera too with me if i can carry it in comfort, and take pics.

and i just cant stand if any of u says like my girlfriend just minute ago, when she saw the gewar in our floor..."so youre goin to war again" :D,i donno what she was referring to >:D.

I was thinking that.  If it fell out of your pocket, surely you would notice the weight difference?  Or is it around the house somewhere?

How deep is the snow where you are Mikko? Do you ever need snowshoes or skis?

How deep is the snow where you are Mikko? Do you ever need snowshoes or skis?

there  was about.......from 3 to 10 inches only,at the area we were,it was swamp and rocky beaches filled with old roots crossing the paths all over.its old lake actually, and the swamp is whats left of the water now.archeologists have found old one-piece boats, swamp graves etc, weapons from that area and there was lots of log workers in the area for 150 yrs,but its been protected  from any BS man can do,for over 50 yrs now so its returning to the condition before modern man´s actions.

now ive seen just about everything in that are, only one cabin and small path to walk,so well be checkin those out soon, and then move to another forests.

im sorry i dont have many good pics,as my camera got frozen and i only could save few of the pics.BUT,i found one "bew" camera from one of the cabins, its been left from some foreign visitor....if no one has reported that he has lost it,i can keep it.its nothin fancy,Canon ixus 75.

we did all fires with firesteels,it was cool little thing.we agreed there wont be allowed any modern lighters, not the matches but for emergeany they were ok.and the packs were limited to capacity of 40 litres to prevent any stupid useless items to be found, like boxes of beer etc. :D

THIS is the best from the pics i managed to save:

its from one old cabin, where war prisoners and later the normal prisoners spend their time by making log jobs etc, making tar...it was very popular place,as the prisoners liked the freedom there more than the cold cells in prison.its near little lake, and the pic is taken from the path, leadin from old sauna to the lake.

yep,all the time,i didnt even touch the core i had there too.i used the Tracker;Tradesman and the small self made knife i posted few days ago.at outdoors i will definetely continue using tracker, and eithe rcore or the  tradesman.
the little self-forged knife is very good companion to tracker as well.i used it a lot when startin fires,as i hardeded the handles curve and sharpeden it too, just cause i wanted it to work as scraper for fire steels.first i just whittled some tinder and then scraped some sparks with the other end,and there u go,a fire.
