I think there's also a lot of promise in fitting the removable clip from a Wave into the space that's between the file and the small screwdriver of the Rebar, after replacing the lanyard with an appropriate diameter spacer (or grinding a smidge off the diameter of the Lanyard attachment, and keeping it in/on the Rebar).

That is a great idea.
A little late for me but maybe Breezy or geekdadrepair could give it a go.
One would have to bend the clip a little to match the handle angle and figure out how to tighten the screw.
Upside is less work involved.
Downside would be that it still wont deep pocket carry.

Zoidberg, Were you able to add the wave pocket clip on your Rebar without using a Kick  pivot. Were you able to do it using the screw that came with the  Kick pocket clip. I would like to the pocket clip mod to my Rebar but i don't want to sacrifice a Kick to do it.
Thanks,
Mike

Correct. Rebar pivot with Kick pocket clip screw.
It wasn't until after I was finished that I noted antouant had used the Kick pivot.
I don't have a Kick so it didn't really matter either way.

Downside would be that it still wont deep pocket carry.

Tightening the screw wouldn't be an issue at all. The clip is removable: just tighten everything up, then slip the wave clip into place.
It would deep carry as deep as a Wave carries with the same clip, who needs deeper than that? The whole tool would be inside the pocket, only the exterior of the clip visible.

Okay.
That can work.
I don't have a Wave and can only reference a Charge and Surge.
The pivot barrel is a different size to the clip.
On the Surge the end cap is shaped to fit with the clip.
On the Charge there is a small washer that fits between the clip and the pivot barrel.
I could test it out with the Charge washer tomorrow after work if you would like me to.

I am looking at my Rebar i think i can take out the lanyard loop and grind the outside of it so the Wave pocket will fit over it. If need be i could open up the inside of the pocket clip as well. As a plan B i have an extra Wave and Serge lanyard loops the thin ones that come with the tools. I am going to give it a go tomorrow while watching football.

I am waiting for parts thanks to Breezy12 and I will try to do almost the same and see if I could put the Wave clip on my ST300.

It may be posable to just open up the wave  lip and use it on the rebar. I would like to be able to use a standard wave clip and use it the same as on a wave or serge.

I emailed Leatherman with my ideas for modding the Rebar to accept the Wave clip in the Lanyard position.
Told them it's a very simple mod for them, that would add essentially nothing to their cost on the Rebar, work well, and allow them to sell yet more Wave clips.
Will let you know how they respond.
Surely they should incorporate something like this into almost every tool they make that's potentially pocket-sized?

While it would be nice for it to come from the factory with a pocket clip, I hope to have breezy mod mine for a pocket clip and scissors in the near future. :dd:

Just for reference, on my Gen 2 Wave, with clip attached, I measure the play at the end of the clip at around 2mm total side-to-side. When it's not deliberately moved though, it pretty much sits in the same position pretty regularly.

As for the Wave clip, sorry mate but I dislike it with gusto  :pok:     :D

Needed something to distract me from RL.
Plus it is a good example of how the process of modding works.
I have a couple ideas on how to stop the clip from rotating.

Why is that?

It's by design. Easy to install, too loose and wiggly for my taste to carry afterwards.

Don't get me wrong, clip is OK but it suffers from standard "end user self-installable" designation.
When something is made to be installed by the user easily, it usually leaves a lot to be desired in other areas.
